I wrote the first pre-print with these ideas back in 2016, in the middle of my PhD. It wasn't my best work (I wrote a lot of it while sitting uncomfortably close to the emissions of @AberCompSci's first 3D printer), but we were encouraged by early reviews. xitter.cf/samstudio8/status/7571…

We shipped @samtomindustrys racks to Zambia last November, but they only arrived today. Unknown to us, a financially crippled Zampost had been on strike and without comms for many months. A little reminder how I take common services like mail, telecomms and utilities for granted.

That is correct. I believe he used a 'string and bead' approach although the reader was a lego based system. I do wonder on any infringements over the method of pinning the beads to the string though... ;-)
