One positive thing about #USAElection2024 is that this is hopefully an eye-opener to Europe! That we'll start thinking about our own interests and act accordingly without the desire to please the US!
Are there any Apps that can filter out tweets, news and messages related to US politics from social media and news pages? For personal well-being this might be an essential tool, it is enough of US politics for me for some years... #Trump2024 #KamalaHarris #USAElection2024
Our new #uimahalli in #Lempäälä takes twice as much entrance fee compared to neighbouring swimming halls, explaining that other halls are subsidised by the city.
But why would I like to go as a customer then to an unsubsidized hall?! That doesn't make any sense...
While cleaning up the basement, I found my first computer, the brilliant #Sinclair ZX81! Let's see, if it can be connected to some modern TV still 😳 And it lacks the power supply, so more digging in the basement is required...

I believe the corresponding countries should pay #OlympicGames medal winners so much award money that they can live happily until retirement age from it. Every two years a few people achieve that - so it shouldn't be a too big investment to motivate future athletes to train hard.

What is happening tomorrow in #Tampere?! Temperatures spike up by 20 degrees and drop again and all in six hours? FMI uses the same servers that we use at Luke and they are terribly queued right now, did somebody calculate something by hand maybe?! 🤣
The #Joensuu night sky at 2:30 while heading back home to the hotel, evenings are truly long now!
After a few weeks practicing with my 6 y/o daughter how to cycle in the city, I can say that people on e-bikes and racing bikes are way more ignorant than any car driver towards slower traffic participants. Overtaking should only be allowed with reasonable reduced speed!
I just prepared a minimal #slurm example for #snakemake 8.x. Somehow the sm-manual is only semi-helpful and also many online resources just describe it for version <= 7.x, so this mini example might be useful for someone:

Just submitted a grant application, had an afternoon Espresso outside in 18 degrees on the terrace and Mayday with a few free days ahead. Can't be better!
