This is false. The bill lets a family request a halal meal for their own child, like a vegetarian or allergy option. Nobody else's food changes and no rancher loses a customer. A takeover would take something. This adds one choice, and in Texas we call that the free market.
WOW 🚨 Texas Cattle Rancher says Texas politicians are pushing to make ALL food in Texas schools Halal to accommodate Muslims “What's happening here in Texas, they're pushing to use state funds to have only halal meat in our kids' public schools” Lara Logan says one of the reasons it’s being pushed is because it’s expensive to run 2 kitchens with 2 sets of meals for students, so making it all Halal is the goal But it goes deeper than that, she says it’s really about putting American cattle ranchers out of business and changing our supply chains “For meat to be truly halal, in theory, it should be grown by a Muslim farmer. It should be harvested by Muslims. be stored and transported by Muslims and handled only by Muslims. Then it should be, when it reaches the other side, whether it's a supermarket or a coffee shop or a grocery store or whatever it is, it should only be around other food that is halal. It shouldn't be exposed to non-halal food. It shouldn't be exposed to people handling it, preparing it, serving it who are non-Muslims — ultimately, the goal is for food to be truly halal. It needs to be only handled and exposed by Muslims from beginning to end, which means the replacement, the economic replacement of every single part of the food chain that to make it Muslim” This sounds really insane but there is actually truth to it Democratic State Rep. Suleman Lalani, a Pakistani-American and one of the first Muslim legislators in the Texas House, has repeatedly filed bills requiring public schools and open-enrollment charter schools to offer a halal food We have also heard many Muslim leaders in Texas calling for Halal to be served in every public school It sounds like there is a much deeper motive here. To completely reshape our food supply chain around Muslims which will put Americans out of business

Halal has no rule that Muslims must raise, ship, store or serve the meat. It covers how the animal is slaughtered and keeping it away from pork. The cattle come from the same American ranches which is why US beef exporters may get halal certified to sell more of it. Not required

This is getting close to defamation territory. The man has type 1 diabetes and the flu. It’s been 8 days and his campaign has already said he will be back soon. This weird bullying shit is why nobody likes you.
I heard a rumor that Talarico is actually in HOUSTON receiving “treatment” 👀 I hear he’s pulling the old “Lina Hidalgo” routine. How many votes would he miss in the Senate for “health” purposes ? Does Texas need another looney liberal who is going to spend more time at doctor’s appointments than doing their job?

We strongly condemn Robert Kraft and other stadium owners who reportedly pressured Ed Sheeran to drop Macklemore from his U.S. tour over his support for the Palestinian people and opposition to the Gaza genocide. Privately owned sports stadiums should never threaten to ban musicians because they dare to oppose the murder of children, and publicly owned stadiums entities cannot engage in such censorship without violating the First Amendment. We call on Mr. Sheeran and the tour promoters to reverse course. They should pursue legal options or reschedule his tour rather than give in to bullying by billionaires who care about free speech as much as they care about slaughtered Palestinian children. We call on stadiums hosting Mr. Sheeran's tour that are owned by a governmental entity to publicly clarify whether they joined on this threat to cancel Mr. Sheeran's tour. Macklemore is being targeted for criticizing the genocidal mass murder of the Palestinian people and calling for the liberation of Palestine, stances applauded by prior audiences. Macklemore is taking a heroic stance and Mr. Sheeran should stand with him. The companies responsible for this attack on free speech for the benefit of a foreign government must be held accountable.
Macklemore is speaking out after being dropped from Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour, seemingly placing blame on New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, saying that the billionaire rallied other stadium owners to ban him from performing at their venues: “Ed is my friend. I've known him for 13 years.... I told Ed multiple times on the phone, our friendship can't change my responsibility to tell the truth about what happened [in Gaza]... Ed told me that Robert Kraft called him. We were scheduled to play Gillette Stadium later this month, which is owned by the Kraft Group. Ed told me that Kraft said I would not be allowed to perform in his stadium. Ed also told me that Kraft had rallied some of the other stadium owners and collectively they gave him an ultimatum: if Macklemore stays on the tour, you will not be allowed to play in our venues.... Ed was in a fucked up position. He knew it. His typical apolitical stance was being challenged in a way it never had been before. He told me that the words 'Free Palestine' and the image of the Palestinian flag were hurtful to a lot of people he spoke with. I told him that if those words were more offensive than tens of thousands of Palestinian children being killed by Israel, then there was a fundamental disconnect between where those people stood and where I stood. But he couldn't get past his public facing, 'I don't take sides'.... I hope this isn't the end of my relationship with Ed. Thirteen years of friendship doesn't disappear because of one painful disagreement. I hope we both continue listening, studying what is happening in Palestine and wrestling with what neutrality means in a moment like this. My door will always be open to continuing that conversation.... I didn't need 10 shows from Ed. I needed 2. Two chances to stand in front of 90,000 people and say the words that somehow became too dangerous to say. Free Palestine. But if those words cost me the stage, while turning the conversation back to Palestine, then it was the most successful tour I've ever been on.” variety.com/2026/music/news/…

He is speaking at the ‘Jewish American Summit’ and getting applause for saying ‘I don’t want Muslims in America.’ I’m trying to imagine the reaction from our media and politicians if a speaker at a ‘Muslim American Summit’ said, to loud applause, ‘I don’t want Jews in America.’
Son of Hamas “there is no room for Islamic dominance in the US.” “Go back to the shit holes where you came from and reform your own countries.”

Of all the silly controversies that @GregAbbott_TX has manufactured about Muslims over the past year, the airport washing station outrage might be the most ridiculous. And hypocritical. Keep in mind that Governor Abbott is currently trying to force K-12 students in Texas public schools to read (his preferred version of) the Bible and require teachers to post the Ten Commandments (that some prominent politicians routinely ignore) in every classroom. Unlike those unconstitutional attempts to favor one religion and impose it on schoolchildren, the washing station at DFW Airport would be a universally accessible and perfectly legal amenity. Washing stations already exist at various airports and anyone can use them. They are no different than the interfaith prayer rooms or toilet bidets found at airports around the world. Muslim travelers may use them most often, but they are open to all. Instead of wasting taxpayer resources on this latest anti-Muslim political stunt, Governor Abbott should focus on the state’s real problems under his leadership, from harmful data centers to school shootings to economic inequality to the erosion of religious freedom. -@cairhouston @CAIRAustin @cairdfw
Government-owned airports cannot favor one religion over all others. DFW plans to install Islamic wudu washing facilities are illegal. I've directed a review of all state grants to both airports for possible revocation, and referred DFW & IAH to USDOT for investigation. Texas will not allow illegal religious discrimination at taxpayer-funded facilities.

Governor Abbott, Government should never discriminate against any religion—but neither should it mistake reasonable accommodation for religious favoritism. A small ablution facility, paid for by private individuals, is no more an “establishment of religion” than nursing rooms are an establishment of parenthood, kosher meal options an establishment of Judaism, vegetarian options an establishment of vegetarianism, or accessible restroom facilities an establishment of disability. They are practical accommodations that allow ordinary citizens to use public facilities safely and with dignity. And in this case, any traveler, of any faith, could use the facility to wash their feet—something, I suspect, quite a few weary travelers would appreciate. Muslims are not asking airports to endorse Islam. They are asking for the same principle that has long guided our nation: people of different faiths should be able to practice their sincerely held beliefs while participating fully in public life. As Texans, we all benefit when our public institutions are welcoming to everyone. Protecting the religious liberty of one community strengthens the religious liberty of every community. There is no “Shariah takeover” of Texas. It is deeply disappointing to see you amplify this false trope about your Muslim constituents in order to appeal to anti-Muslim sentiment. The closest thing we have to a Muslim takeover of the Lone Star State is the proliferation of shawarma and falafel shops—along with a few truly outstanding halal Texas BBQ joints. Any time you would like to actually talk to your Muslim constituents, I would be happy to meet you over some meat at any one of them. What makes this episode especially ironic is the glaring double standard. In 2017, you signed legislation restricting Texas governmental entities from contracting with companies that boycott Israel. In other words, Texas has been willing to condition access to government contracts on a company's commercial conduct toward one particular foreign country. Yet a privately funded facility designed to accommodate the religious practices of some Texas citizens is suddenly portrayed as impermissible religious favoritism. Why the radically different standards? Why is accommodating the religious needs of Muslim Texans treated with suspicion, while the State of Israel has been afforded extraordinary statutory protection? Governor Abbott, this latest manufactured controversy—and the continued willingness to use Muslims as a political foil—may well serve short-term political purposes. But elections are not the final measure of public leadership. Eventually, all of us will return to our Lord and be judged by Him. And history has an uncanny ability to revisit the moral failures that politics once rewarded. Do you really wish to be remembered as the George Wallace of our time? I am a proud Texan, Governor Abbott. I was born here. I studied here. I graduated from here. I married here. I work here, I live here, and I pay my taxes here. Texas is my home. I respect the office you hold. But your repeated willingness to malign and marginalize your Muslim constituents has, sadly, caused me to lose my respect for the man who holds it.

This is a normal international airport amenity, and DFW has nonstops to Dubai, Doha and Amman. Most of Texas politics now is resentment at the consequences of moving to the center of the world economy

There’s literally 4 Muslims in all of Congress. See Nancy, this is why you lost. Because you suck. No sane American is worried about Muslims when they can’t afford to buy their kids school supplies, fill up their tank and put a decent meal on the table every night without having to skimp somewhere. Read the room.
Every single Muslim holding public office in America is a trojan horse, and a threat to both national security and our republic. We refuse to be silent.

Cannot overstate that the right wing has spent decades trying to redefine Islam as a political ideology as a pretext for the type of repression that inevitably leads to state sponsored violence. It’s here. They are openly discussing it.
Not too long ago, it would have been abhorrent to even think these things. Now, this is the sort of thing that's not just being thought of but advanced and promoted by our politicians. What are we doing?
