For those who saw LA RUPTURE at FIAF tonight, here's Sarris's 1975 review, which I've always remembered. webapps.cspace.berkeley.edu/…:
I'm doing a Q&A with my first movie (shot on 3/4" analog video - let the buyer beware) tonight at 7:30 at Spectacle.

From the clues given, I can guess the last four films (Cry of the Hunted, Slightly Scarlet, World for Ransom, The Midnight Story) in Spectacle's Noirvember program tomorrow. Can anyone guess the first film at 5 pm? spectacletheater.com/noirvem…
The Paris Theater is doing a ten-film Jacques Audiard retro. Years ago I walked out on SUR MES LEVRES halfway, and never gave Audiard another thought. Was I too hasty?

First time attending the Viennale since 2013 with my first feature Tower. Its got beautiful cinemas, incredible curation and everyone attends. Was a big inspiration for our MDFF Selects screening series because it's where I met our first two guests: @sallitt and Nathan Silver.
MATT AND MARA is currently screening at this year's VIENNALE. Here are some photos from yesterday's Austrian premiere at the Stadtkino im Künstlerhaus with writer/ director @redvineski in attendance.

Question for a friend, who thinks he remembers James Bond giving Oddjob a cat for eating purposes in GOLDFINGER. He was told that this happened in the book and not in the movie, but he's never read the book. Anyone remember this in the movie?

I've always found OLD DOG Pema Tseden's best film, but after revisiting THE SEARCH yesterday I think it's nearly as remarkable. Tseden segments the story into small units of narrative, and signposts the transitions from unit to unit with a gentle, reflexive comic exaggeration.
Saw ROSEMARY'S BABY and then re-read Sarris' review, which was compiled in the CONFESSIONS OF A CULTIST book. Man, was that guy a smart critic.
