Do GLP-1 medications pay for themselves by reducing other health care spending? New NBER WP (claims data + stacked DID): GLP-1 initiation does not reduce non-GLP health spending. Non-GLP spending is higher at 1 year and 5 years. @KosaliSimon @sacksdaniel @STingCai

🚨Do GLP-1s “pay for themselves”? We study real-world impacts at scale. An estimated 1 in 8 Americans have tried GLP-1s. But beyond clinical trials, we know surprisingly little about their real-world effects. Paper: nber.org/papers/w34667 (w/@JasminMoshfegh & Sam Bock) 🧵1/10

🚩JMP Thread🚩 How do incoming remote workers impact local incumbents in their new destinations? I answer this question by (1) using the policy variation, known as ``Remote Worker Relocation Programs” and (2) building and estimating a local economy model. (1/7)
Job market candidate Hoyoung (@hoyoung_yoo_) studies how an influx of high-skilled remote workers affects local residents in destination cities by using the Tulsa Remote program & building a structural equilibrium model. #EconJobMarket #EconTwitter econ.wisc.edu/staff/yoo-hoyo…

hi twitter, I'm trying to learn about google's 41 shades of blue experiment. There's lot of opinions about it but i cannot find a clear description of what they actually found - does anyone know if that exists?

Is this a contradiction? No, many vaccines protect the vaccinated without preventing transmission, for example hepatitis B and rotavirus vaccines do not generate sterilizing immunity 7/8

While we find no externality from current vaccinations, it’s possible spillovers exist at higher take-up. Protective benefits of vaccines are highly nonlinear in vacc rate. For very infectious disease, need very high take-up. 8/8
