If the first Toronto mayor to seriously fix the city's finances is also the first incumbent to lose reelection, this city will be doomed to austerity and crumbling infrastructure for decades.
A new poll finds Brad Bradford has taken a narrow lead over Olivia Chow in the Toronto mayoral race, with less than a week to go until election day.

Let's mention emergency response. One candidate reduced police response times from 26 minutes to 12 minutes. One candidate reduced 911 operator delay from up to 12 minutes to 3 seconds. Mayor Chow has been effective where it matters.

Elected School Board Trustees won't be sworn in after the election in boards under supervision.
Ontarians have been electing school board trustees since 1816. It's our oldest form of democracy in Ontario. Now Ford will keep control of school boards with his hand-picked supervisors.

NEW: The Ford government says trustees in supervised school boards βwill not be sworn inβ immediately after next week's election.
The province is asserting its power to call meetings in eight boards and trustees will only take their oath when the meeting is officially called.
No timeline for when that will happen.

Let's talk housing. One candidate has 5,271 housing units under construction. One candidate reduced homelessness by 8%. One candidate launched a public builder campaign. One candidate has a legitimate record standing up for renters.

These 32 #BloodBikes commemorate the 32 people killed on Bloor, Yonge & University in 20-years before bike lanes were built.
After bike lanes were installed only one tragic loss of life has occurred in 6-years since 2020.
Bike lanes keep EVERYONE save, not only people cycling.

It took an FOI from @TorontoStar to show Ontarians the truth about gambling-related suicides.
In case you don't know, they jumped 8-FOLD in only TWO YEARS
..after which, the study you'd promised to do got panned.
What ELSE should we know ?
Signed.

Youβve never filled out a death certificate, never treated a dying COVID patient, and your evidence is βmy friendβ plus whatever circulated in your Facebook group.
I have filled out death certificates. I know what βunderlying cause of deathβ means, and I know the legal and professional consequences of falsifying one.
If someone dies from traumatic injuries in a car crash, COVID does not magically become the cause of death because they happened to test positive.
You are taking an anecdote you cannot verify and using it to accuse physicians across the country of fraud. And calling me a βdumb fuckβ does not improve the evidentiary quality of the anecdote.
Replying to @drterrysimpson
Hey dumb fuck, there's a difference between dying from covid and dying with covid. hospitals labeled people dying because they tested positive for covid but that's not what killed them. A friend of mine died in a car accident and the cause of death was covid so stfu

We donβt need more provincial interference in our city.
Brad Bradford wants to hand control of our water to the Province and open the door to privatization.
Control of our drinking water needs to stay in Toronto's hands.

Yes, Jill. I know the ingredients in the vaccines. I studied virology at the University of Chicago before becoming a surgeon.
The ingredients are publicly available. So are the clinical trial results and safety data.
You call it a βkiller vaccineβ without offering evidence, then suggest I profited from it without evidence.
As Christopher Hitchens observed, what can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.
A medical degree doesnβt make someone infallible. But an accusation without evidence doesnβt make someone informed.
Replying to @drterrysimpson
Your medical degree proved worthless during Covid. Did you even know the ingredients in the killer vaccine???
Hope you didnβt profit off it.

I keep saying it: Doug Ford has about 15 scandals that, on their own wouldβve brought down any other government. And yet, no updates on any of these investigations. When is the Ford government gonna be held accountable for literally anything?
Ontario somehow manages a billion-dollar scandal every year now that would have sunk a government had it happened a decade ago, and yet no investigation has reported back and you can bet no one will end up in jail.
A billion dollars defrauded from OSAP and the only punishment will be inflicted on those who didnβt do anything wrong.
Every bad actor will take it as a sign that they can continue abusing the systems that they are.
In the past these scandals (Greenbelt, Skills Development Fund, now OSAP) would be the top news story until there was some accountability.
Now? Nothing.
Makes me so angry!

A third party legal analysis has examined how creating a water and wastewater business corporation under Ontarioβs Water and Wastewater Public Corporations Act could affect Torontoβs control over its water system, identifying the potential for rate increases, underinvestment and future privatization as risks.

I worked closely with Toronto Water as Chief Planner, and they are an exceptionally well run, award-winning organization.
Why risk this?
