For those who know their history, a wave of busted + delayed/cancelled IPOs was the topping signal in early/mid 2000
It's a sign that capital is becoming scarce
And when capital becomes scarce, your boom goes bust

Reality check:
It's very strange to me that otherwise sensible people think that AI companies will simply start sending out weekly checks to all 8 billion people in the world, within a few years.
Any company CEO or Board that did this would be violating their fiduciary duties to investors, and would quickly be replaced by leadership that doesn't betray its investors.
There is no plausible world in which AI companies will distribute most of their revenue to the rest of humanity, unless they are coerced to do so.
And who exactly would be in a position to coerce them, if they run everything?
2 years from now you will not work you and will not worry about money
you will get your cash payments from from all the major AI labs
think of it like 3-5 companies giving you a thousand dollar check every week
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
No major AI labs have announced or committed to universal $1000 weekly cash payments or an end to work/money concerns by 2028. Discussions involve speculative proposals and limited small-scale pilots, not firm company plans.

Yesterday was Elon’s greatest magic trick.
It got everybody believe an amazing technological gap had just been made.
I got fooled too.
At first, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I was so excited.
And don’t get me wrong , the technology, the precision at which the car did what it did, was fabulous.
However, it was not a car doing it.
And that is the true, Machiavellic genius of Elon.
There is no flying car.
There is no car at all.
It was an empty shell. As light as possible. No seats. Nothing.
Full of gas tanks.
With a maximum of 2 secs of thrust usage.
In other words, it was a drone.
A drone with a shell that looked like a car.
Imagine if it had been a square piece of metal instead.
You would have said “nice”.
The truth is, it is nothing more than that.
It was not the car that you will see in the street. It was just a piece of light metal, that had the same body as the one you wil buy.
The technology exists since a long time.
If nobody did it, it’s not that they didn’t think about it’s it’s because it is not sustainable.
It is not achievable.
So why were we fooled ?
Because most people can’t imagine the biggest entrepreneur and genius of our century would have put millions into a show and be ruthless enough to put a fake car in a demonstration with the goal of selling something that will have nothing to do with what he is showing.
It was a show. A spectacle. Pure manipulation. Ruthless, immoral marketing.
The whole “ socialism vs capitalism” or “Europe vs America” we are seeing is the result of a fabulously done propaganda.
The car doesn’t fly.
It never will.
Most importantly,
there wasn’t any car on that show.
But the brainwashed idiots that we are will rush to buy it, waiting for another two years ( 9 have passed already since the preorders), only to receive something that has nothing to do with what we have seen.
Expect the shell.
But in 2026, it seems it is what we are. Empty shells for which entertainment and lies are enough to make us dance like apes.
Porsche maybe didn’t do a flying demonstration.
But at least they will deliver exactly what they have shown. And it will drive better than any Tesla ever will ( especially if it weights two fugging tons).

here’s a simpler true story with none of those things:
companies are trying to replace us with machines. this would be very bad. we should stop them.
I hate to be the one to burst the Tesla bubble today, but the spectacular “flight” we witnessed at the Roadster reveal needs a little context. The car is carrying around 250kg of compressed air, plus the weight of the tanks, valves and thrusters needed to contain and release it.
Based on the published figures, that gives it roughly 1.5–2 seconds of maximum thrust before the system needs to be refilled.
In short, it's a gimmick.
This guy does an amazing job of articulating the coming competence gap I've been talking about for over a year.

I'm not an Elon hater.
I'm just telling you the Honest Truth:
This is a marketing stunt.
The technology is quite old.
Just nobody ever thought of bolting it on a car.
Because it's pointless.
Porsche or Ferrari could also build something like this if they wanted, but they don't, because it's not worth it for them.
It's worth it for Elon though, because his entire brand is all about having the halo of futurism.
His marketing scales especially well with tech gimmicks like this, which is why he is financially incentivised to do them, while others aren't.
Again, I'm not hating, but actually educating yall.
This is not engineering genius.
It's marketing genius.

AI is literally a scam, the most sophisticated scam ever. They created a machine that mimics the output of intelligence. Then told everyone it was really intelligent — an impossibility, but the illusion was convincing. Based on that deception, they fleeced investors of trillions.

This proves that your entire thesis about AGI is incorrect.
LLMs are not a mysterious black box where superintelligence emerges. They are the digitized artifacts of humans compressed into a manifold.
It means scaling to AGI is idiotic and your company’s p(doom) is 100%.
Gartner says that by 2030, 80% of neoclouds will have ceased operations, that AI data center owners would need to generate $8.5 trillion in revenue to cover the current spend and hit an ROIC of 12%, and that $4tr+ in assets face writedown risk by 2032.

Ahem. Anthropic is worth the exact amount of zero ($0.00) dollars.
Anthropic is a money furnace with $412 BILLION in financial commitments it cannot cancel.
Its only product is a commodity—a search engine for human data purloined through stolen content. This is now replicated by thousands of companies. There are zero pathways beyond nationalization that save Anthropic long-term.
Its entire valuation is based on marketing and PR verging on psychological warfare which alternately alleges that its software is going cure cancer, take our jobs, or kill us all—things that can’t happen.
Its entire staff consists of people committed to the religious conviction that the software they are creating is a new form of sentience. They currently process over a million merges a month on over 25GB of source code that no one in the company can possibly understand.
This company is strictly an impossible-to-win bet that they are going to be the first to create “AGI” if they just keep creating bigger and bigger piles of slop.
That’s not going to happen. Instead they will get increasingly desperate to prove their software is more than a preposterously bloated algorithm. The software will get increasingly worse. And this company will die in a fire along with the industry.

We should fight to stop data centres because they are based on a "mass delusion that America has spawned - that it could create a universal superintelligence by boosting chatbots through a speculative venture capital investment race into the trillions."
