Have now seen ring info (via @stephenmid, thanks Stephen) for this bird which is still hanging out by Tate Modern and confirmed as Caspian. You called it right @TheCowboyBirder #londonbirds
Well, it’s been a really quiet autumn at the Tate Modern so I’ve had to resort to looking at gulls 😂 This big fella has been keeping me interested though; current thinking is probable Caspian though bill not very typical. #londonbirds 1/2

Still looking at gulls at the Tate Modern. This one wasn’t found by me though, credit goes to @birdbrainuk for this big brute of a 2nd winter Caspian. I’m actually starting to enjoy this gulling lark #londonbirds

Managed to get the code on its metal ring with a little effort, interestingly ringed in Prague - have submitted request for further info…

One of the best things about my local patch by the Tate Modern is that I get to see species which are usually quite skulky extremely well. This juvie Sedge Warbler today was a good example - hopping around just a metre away from me. What cracking birds they are 😍 #londonbirds

Most of the time I see nothing at all at the Tate, but occasionally we get a good day and today was one of them. The lunchtime showers knocked down a few migrants. I initially thought I had a pair of Black Redstart but then realised the female wasn’t a Black…#londonbirds 1/2

…but hopping around on the walls as though it had temporarily forgotten it’s identity! Also four warblers in after the showers (WW. Chiff, W’throat, B’cap) plus two Oystercatcher upriver (my 2nd record here) made for a better than usual spring day 2/2

22 Stonechat on @CityCorpHeath this morning. Not a high count for this location, but getting near it (24 in September 2022). Beautiful morning too! #londonbirds

A few highlights from my recent trip to Zimbabwe. Some real lookers like Swallow-tailed Bee-eater, but also quite a few tricky LBJs too. The fourth photo shows female Black-eared Seedeater, which was probably the scarcest bird I saw - less than 1k records on eBird to date.

Forgot to add alt text to the second photo - Racket-tailed Roller

Very happy with these Swift shots from Staines Reservoirs yesterday, especially with the trusty old @CanonUKandIE 7D mark ii & 400mm f/5.6 combo. Surely my best swift shots till date. #swift #birdphotography @ThePhotoHour @LondonBirdClub @SurreyBirdNews @SurreyWT @Colne_Valley

I was just saying that these easterlies hadn’t delivered anything and then casually looked down at the river near Tate Modern and saw this! My first here, and only my third wader species. Never give up looking! #londonbirds

A couple of Lesser Redpoll have been hanging around the Tate Modern for the last week. I’ve had a couple of flyovers before but these are the first that have stayed #londonbirds

It’s been a quiet start to the year at Tate Modern, with even the usual Peregrines being noticeably absent so far. These two GBBG posed nicely yesterday though; they are regular here but it’s rare that I see two interacting like this #londonbirds

Great to get some really good views of the Dartford Warbler at Hampstead Heath today! Seems to be more showy than the last time I saw it. Also, a Stonechat, Kestrel, Coal Tits and a Green Woodpecker. @LondonBirdClub @WildLondon @CityCorpHeath

My best ever year at Tate Modern with 67 sp, including 9 patch ticks. Doesn’t sound much but its bang in the middle of central London. Makes me wonder what I could’ve got if I’d covered it properly when I was working in the office 5 days instead of the current 2! #londonbirds

Was over the moon to find this Dartford Warbler on Hampstead Heath today! It seems to be the first here since 1994, and only the second modern record @CityCorpHeath #londonbirds
