Ministers to relax rules about building small modular reactors (SMRs) thetimes.com/uk/politics/art⌠- is this just hot air? You can give more room for fairies to dance, but that doesnât make them real. Here I explain how SMRs donât exist as a concept davidtoke.substack.com/p/whyâŚ

"France would never do this"
As a matter of fact, France did something analogous to this with the relocation outside Paris of the renowned market of Les Halles, in the years 60s and 70s of last century.

Enduring more economic pain and hardship isnât what people voted for. They were told they were voting for change. Not voting for things to get worse before they get better. Labour needs to be honest about the fact that they could choose to make things better for everyone if they were bolder and braver.
What is being framed as tough choices is actually about political choices. People donât need a constant reminder that the Tories broke Britain. They need a new approach, not misguided fiscal rules that are set to make things worse.
We must generate the funds needed for investment by shifting the burden away from the poorest onto the wealthiest. Labourâs refusal to tax the super-rich shows that business as usual is very much still in business.
Keir Starmer says the violent riots earlier this month exposed a deeply unhealthy society. But the health of a society canât be improved if it is forced to swallow the same failed medicine. The government can choose to provide the investment our communities are crying out for. This would help create hope and unleash the goodness of people to improve their communities.

Imagine youâre back in 2017 and you know Tesla has a game changing product, the Model 3, but that most people actually donât believe itâs real
and people refuse to believe that itâs actually just started production
thatâs what this moment is like right now with Tesla and FSD. With end to end they have a breakthrough that people havenât yet fully absorbed. Most have only seen one end to end model, FSD 12.3. They havenât yet been able to grasp the rate of improvement, the move to hands free.
In 72 days Tesla will unveil a driverless vehicle with no manual controls, called the Tesla Cybercab. They will also show off new more affordable models that will incorporate many elements of the next gen platform the Robotaxi / Cybercab is built on.
And almost everyone, including Tesla bulls, canât bring themselves to believe what is actually happening.

Donât ask whether you can afford to invest in cycling. Ask whether you can afford not to.
