A disappointing outcome for nature in today's #KingSpeech. Our key takeaways:🧵 ❌No mention of peat in the King’s Speech – a devastating blow for peatlands both in the UK and abroad.

The Spectator. This is fuckwittery. Dishonest and nasty. We live in a world that's dying. These foul folk are running so scared that it's good to see. Damn them. May it be so. Continue with what must be done to heal. They are history. spectator.co.uk/article/its-…

It’s time to end the rewilding menace

There’s a ghastly predictability to the news that the University of Sussex – in Brighton, naturally – wants to set aside nearly half of its land for ‘rewilding’. According to our local paper,...

What a moment! A #WhiteTailedEagle is born in England – the 1st for over 240 years! It hatched earlier this summer & has now fledged. It's the first breeding success of the birds released by @ForestryEngland & @RoyDennisWF in a landmark project to return this iconic species.

Before you call this a "banger of a job". Consider that Insects are the bottom row of the house of cards that we call a food chain. They also pollinate our food crops. Wipe out insects with atrocities like this and the house of cards comes toppling down and with it our survival.

We're disappointed with the result of the wild camping legal challenge. We'll consider our position before deciding if to appeal and also discuss with landowners. We maintain wild camping is key part of open-air recreation, a way to enjoy Dartmoor. bit.ly/2CSDHcP

For me, these are some of the most exciting stories of rewilding in Britain in 2022. Britain ranks among the most nature-depleted countries in the world. We’ve lost so much. That’s why the rewilding movement is so vital. If we can rewild in Britain, we can rewild anywhere. /1

Dartmoor is the only place in England where it is legal to wild camp, but one wealthy landowner wants to change this so that no one can camp here without his consent. Solidarity with @Right_2Roam for protesting against this. We need overnight access to the Moor and its big sky.
