The Lesser Stag Beetle has declined in many places. The beetle and larvae spend much of their time in rotting wood. Add log-piles and leave dead tree stumps, to encourage these awesome bugs.

January is fox mating time, so many of you will be hearing their calls at night, and seeing more of them in your garden as they make an extra effort to search for food, to ensure the vixens are at their peak nutritionally, for their forthcoming pregnancies in February.
