How did a former Who Wants to be a Millionaire contestant end up managing in the Champions League? In the early 2000s, Valdas Dambrauskas appeared on the Lithuanian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. He took home 4,000 litas, about half a year’s average salary in the Baltic state. His Who Wants to Be a Millionaire windfall enabled Dambrauskas and his family to move to Britain, where he enrolled on a sports science course at London Metropolitan University. After earning his coaching badges, he spent time in non-league football before entering the professional game. Dambrauskas spent time managing across Europe and, over the past 14 months, he has overseen the transformation of Sabah, a club formed only nine years ago, into Azerbaijan champions. They hold a league title that for 11 of the previous dozen years had belonged to Qarabag, who until now were the default flag-bearers for Azerbaijan in the Champions League 🔗 Tap the link to read Ian Hawkey’s full piece ⬇️ thetimes.com/sport/football/…
