Download and read this report. Released on 25th August. Check paragraph 20. ohchr.org/en/documents/count… The Arakan Army is not only blocking returns, but actively reshaping the demography and geography of northern Rakhine. OHCHR documents non-Rohingya settlements built directly on Rohingya land. This includes: roughly 2,000 seized acres eight new villages in Buthidaung the occupation of 11 emptied villages in Maungdaw. Rohingya have also been forced to dismantle their own homes. There are also reports of ancestral villages being renamed. The report warns that this engineering risks the "loss of any possibility of sustainable return”.

thestar.com.my/news/nation/2… THREE THINGS TO NOTE IN THIS ARTICLE: Anwar Ibrahim is fighting a difficult election, wounded by PH’s rout in Johor and desperate for Malay votes. So he struts before voters boasting that 5,000 Rohingya can be handed to the Myanmar regime, days after families were driven from their homes. This is nothing short of inhumane electioneering with defenceless people’s lives. Malaysia's Prime Minister is no longer trying to calm anti-Rohingya sentiment. He warned Rohingya not to "disrupt businesses", "disrupt traffic" and reminded them that "this is our country”. This is all language that closely echoes the themes driving weeks of anti-Rohingya hate online. Anwar speaks proudly of his "good relations" with Myanmar's military. Strange thing to boast about when your diplomatic partner stands accused of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Nur is a 12-year-old Rohingya Muslim refugee in Malaysia who has stopped going to school since June, after two men threatened to beat her on her way to class. Nur is just one of many Rohingya children to face harassment and threats that have prompted refugee schools across Malaysia to close, say rights groups and educators reut.rs/3TVeVA4

Bangladesh 🇧🇩 A Rohingya woman is trying to get WFP assistance but has been told to go to the Bangladesh camp-in-charge instead. That’s not worked. @WFP_Bangladesh should be able to get Rohingya woman and her family aid, right? I’m I missing something here…

Last September a High-Level Conference addressed the situation of Rohingya Muslims and other minorities in Myanmar. Last Friday briefing from Ms. Julie Bishop, Special Envoy of the Secretary-General gave us an opportunity to take stock of the situation in Myanmar. It is our shared responsibility to support humanitarian efforts and to advance a sustainable solution.

CHANGE DOT ORG must urgently remove Malaysia’s anti-Rohingya petition. I have written to Change dot org asking them to urgently remove the petition calling for the “removal” of #Rohingya from #Malaysia, now with over 416,000 signatures. This petition targets a stateless refugee community and helps turn xenophobia into a mass, shareable campaign. Change dot org cannot pretend to be a passive noticeboard. Its platform gives the petition visibility, legitimacy, momentum and a public signature count that can be weaponised against Rohingya. At a time of rising online hostility, and disturbing reports of possible vigilante mobilisation, responsible platforms must assess foreseeable harm before real-world violence occurs. Remove the petition. I have also alerted Change dot org to serious, unverified reports of possible vigilante mobilisation against Rohingya traders. That risk environment makes platform responsibility even more urgent.

For years, #refugees in #Malaysia have lived in fear of arrest, detention, forced returns. Many fled war, #genocide, & atrocities only to face new abuses. On June 1, the govt will implement “phase one” of its new refugee framework. @FortifyRights has recs fortifyrights.org/mly-inv-20…

Myanmar's election is unlikely to change the reality for more than 1M Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh who fled what the UN called 'genocidal violence' in Myanmar. Efforts to repatriate the Muslim minority have stalled since the junta seized power in 2021.

Here in Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh, the entire refugee population depends on humanitarian aid. Until the conflict and the systematic persecution they have fled ends, we must support them. The international community has an obligation to invest - now - in aid for people who have suffered so much.

#RohingyaCrisis We are not allowed to work. We are not allowed to move. #Bangladesh does not recognize us as refugees, only as displaced people, people in transit. But where do we go? It has been seven years. Where do we go when #Myanmar still wants us dead, when no country will take us, when we are trapped in this open-air prison with no future, no rights, no dignity? Why must we beg for food like criminals? Why is everything a business, even our suffering? We are not asking for luxuries. We are not asking for wealth. We are asking to survive. To eat. To live. If we cannot leave, why can’t we work? Why can’t we build a future? Why must we rely on handouts from a world that is tired of helping us? #FoodCrisis #USAID #US #Storytelling #Photography

In 2018, Twan Morn Naing, the brother of the Arakan Army’s chief and current head of the Humanitarian and Development Coordination Office (HDCO) of ULA, privately addressed a crowd about strategies to seize Rohingya lands in Northern Arakan State. Today, those words have become reality. Since last year, thousands of Rohingya homes have been burned to the ground, and most Rohingya landowners are barred from returning to their ancestral lands—especially in urban areas like Maungdaw and Buthidaung Townships. While some houses remain standing, the Arakan Army is now actively seizing them. This systematic land grabbing is not just theft—it is an integral part of GENOCIDE.
