We ship an ungodly amount of code at @octolane, and we do it without letting quality, craft, or usability slip. To hold that line, I've built a set of 350+ code review rules (and I'm still adding more). I want to give credit where it's due: @greptile has been incredibly helpful on that journey for every engineer on our team. Full disclosure, we were in the same YC W24 batch, so I might sound biased but I've personally tried every code review tool out there. On any given day I'm testing a dozen tools as I learn and build for Octolane, and nothing comes close to Greptile at catching the tiniest details everything else misses + self-improving memory

Jev + Astra beats the Ender Dragon in Minecraft in 8 minutes 43 seconds! ⏱️ Cost less than $1 ($0.01 Jev, $0.96 Astra) I open sourced the code and explain the harness setup below. This type of movement is only possible with Jev's near instant decisionmaking, and some continually learning skills from Astra.

relatedly, i gave a presentation at YC this week about increasing code velocity. First time i felt comfortable including this line:
last 3 month development: @greptile has pulled away as by far the best code review agent. today 5/5 on greptile == "merge the PR" which is really great for fully automating code review

introducing the greptile partner program. we worked with top dev tool companies like stripe, openai, and datadog to teach greptile how best to use their APIs when greptile detects that your code touches a partner’s API, it reviews the code with additional context from the partner. it then flags the issue along with a link to the docs

introducing t-rex with t-rex enabled, greptile doesn't just review your PR, it runs your branch in a sandbox to find bugs. it mocks api calls, clicks around the UI, and writes + runs unit tests in our benchmarks, it caught ~20% more bugs than base greptile. most of the new bugs caught could not have been caught with more inference, they required code execution. t-rex is available in beta to all greptile users

my sister is interviewing at startups after i convinced her to. i met with her today, and she remarked how much more excited and happy the people she met in startup world were than the ones she had met in banking/consulting. both work many hours, but startup employees share this fact with glee rather than dismay. this is of course a generalization, but it made me think of something @hungrysohan said once - “how fortunate we are to be tired in pursuit of a challenge of our choosing”

i think about code review a lot it's really broken now. absolutely impossible to review all the PRs manually for a long time cursor bugbot felt like the best solution. today it's without a doubt @greptile feels like a codex vs. claude code vibe shift. good reminder to always keep building

it's crazy how @greptile has had such a noticeable improvement in the last few months. i've never seen an agent at that scale improve drastically so fast

more than a quarter of all code reviewed by greptile is now written by "background agents" - completely autonomous e2e coding agents like devin. we analyzed millions of PRs written by background agents and compared their - code churn rates - revert rates - bugs per PR against human baseline. read the full post on our blog!

Just had a feedback session with @rohankumar of @greptile and it seems like I'm in the top 50 (personal) power users 🫣 (as of last week PRs) Cheers for the chat Rohan, look forward to seeing what we chatted about being potentially Impl into Greptile 💖

Today we’re releasing Greptile Agent v4, our best code review agent yet. It’s catches more tricky bugs than v3, while also having far fewer false positives. We're also updating our pricing to help us support power users.
