Our national debt has just hit £3 trillion. We were told by the "grown ups" in both parties that putting up taxes, Net Zero and high immigration would bring the debt down. This is the counterfactual of what I sought to do in the Mini-Budget. And it has been a disaster.

One reason why multiculturalism failed is its shallow interpretation of culture. Culture isn’t curry and clothes. Culture is values, worldview, history, ideas, religion, rules, beliefs, norms, laws, traditions, language, the ingrained habits and instincts of a hundred generations. Different cultures = different peoples

Reminder: just yesterday we learned that: A) a former ISIS guard for a beheading squad came to yookay illegally on a boat, obviously because of the ECHR/HRA he can't be jailed or deported, living freely; B) SAS guys sent on missions to deal with ISIS beheaders were then arrested for MURDER for dealing with them; they were lied to by the military police; they have been told they can never be clear of the charges (because the ECHR/HRA means any time some lawyer like Jolyon or Hermer wants to team up with nutters on a ECHR case, the government will be forced to investigate again and remember Hermer's friend *invented* war crimes to bring cases against British soldiers, but obviously wasn't jailed, triples all round in the Inner Temple). So we're importing the jihadis at scale while prosecuting for murder SAS we rely on to defend us from the jihadis - and if you don't like this you're fascist and it's a reason to ban X in yookay. No you will not see Kemi-kasi campaign on these issues because the Tories agreed with Labour for 25 years that this combination is 'defending civilisation'. The Tories imported many of the jihadis now in the news, and the Tories approved all the worst officials and lawyers in SW1 bringing the lawfare cases, including against those who were given medals by the Queen for stopping IRA terrorist attacks - they now have to beg for cash for lawyers in their 70s/80s. And because Reform is a bin fire which can't maintain focus on anything for 2 minutes -- like Kemi-kasi -- you probably won't see anything sustained from them either.

Then the 70% are wrong. Privatisation of energy was a success. Prices fell. Consumers benefitted. It all started to go wrong when the Tory/LD Coalition relentlessly increased state control of energy in pursuit of net zero. Continued under subsequent governments. The state now has more control over UK energy than it did in the days of the Central Electricity Generating Board! And the remuneration last year of the boss of Gaz de France (now Engie) was €5.5m. Other than that you’re spot on.
Replying to @afneil
All polling shows upto 70% believe privatisation of energy has been a disaster and demand renationalisation, as for salaries try Chris O'Shea, CEO of Centrica, 5 million a year! Can't imagine Gaz de France handing out that sort of money!

Farage apparently thinks the question of Englishness is an “academic debate”, in his words, that is not worth engaging in - a simply extraordinary thing to say. We are witnessing profound demographic change across Britain, and the leader of Reform thinks the meaning of English identity is a subject to be brushed aside because he’s scared of being called a few unpleasant names. Englishness is NOT an academic debate. The English are a historic people. We have our own ancestry, heritage, culture, traditions and national identity. Incredibly, Farage disagrees with that. My view, and Restore Britain's view, is clear. We are not simply a collection of passport holders living within a geographical boundary. And acknowledging the existence of the historic English people does not mean denying that others can develop a genuine attachment and belonging to our nation, but that does not make them ethnically English. A government can print a passport, sadly we all know that - it CANNOT falsely manufacture centuries of history or ancestral roots. The historic English people have a home - it’s called England, and we have nowhere else to go. And yes, in that home, the English are being demographically replaced. That’s just a fact. It’s happening all over Britain, it’s happened all over Britain. Go to East London, Rochdale, Luton, Birmingham, Blackburn, Bradford. I could go on. This is NOT an academic debate. This is our home, or at least it was. Farage is simply not the man to save it. You cannot claim to defend a nation when you refuse to even acknowledge its historic people because you might get your feelings hurt. The hour is simply too late for that pathetic level of gutlessness. The English are not an academic abstract afterthought. We will not have our history and entire existence erased because cowardly politicians don’t have the courage to state the truth. We are a people, and England is our home. Restore Britain will defend it.

I would like one of the Labour veteran MPs to say that Richard is wrong in his assessment of the disastrous message which is being sent out to our courageous soldiers by the desk wallahs, the lawyers, spineless MPs and the wokerati! @andyburnham @wesstreeting @UKCDS_MOD @DefenceHQ @elliereeves @AlistairCarns @DanJarvisMBE @BritishArmy @TheParachuteReg @RoyalMarines @LukePollard @CalvinBailey @Louise_Jones_MP @FredThomasUK @MikeTappTweets @EdwardJDavey @libdemdaisy @Ms_Alex_Baker @ColchesterLab
Read this powerful article by @thetimes , and reflect on what has been shared.. This is not just “persecution by (extremely clumsy) process” imposed upon active-duty SAS operators fighting to detain vicious ISIS thugs in an active war zone, but also an example of performative self-immolation initiated by the most senior UK Special Forces officer at the time (G Jenkins) as self-serving exercise in what HE calls ‘transparency’…… So, if someone, anyone (quite possibly an enemy) within an active war zone says the SAS killed an unarmed man, then the so-called ‘senior leaders’ (some, as in this case, with near-zero combat experience) within the Whitehall-based ‘UK system’ desperate to demonstrate something that they call ‘transparency’ (or whatever else floats the MOD’s boat), will automatically launch an aggressive RMP operation to detain the SAS men involved…. Not on the basis of any hard evidence (there is no crime scene, no bodies, no bullets etc), but purely on distant, uncorroborated hearsay and remote, delayed analysis of operational reports; all supported by desk-bound, chinless leaders that seemingly care more about how they will (personally) look in an MOD promotion board than trying to properly understand the circumstances faced by the SAS men and defend them accordingly. What a gift this utterly pathetic weakness, low threshold investigative process and twisted self-defeating system gives to our many enemies….and what an awful message it sends to those that still volunteer to fight on our all of our behalves….

To every American, and to everyone watching France burn from abroad: Do not blame the French people for this. We never asked for it. We never voted for it. And the one time we were clearly asked, we said no. Here are the numbers your media won't show you. 70% of the French say there are too many immigrants in France today. 79% want a tougher immigration policy. 77% disapprove of the government's record on immigration. 83% want foreign criminals and long-term unemployed foreigners sent home. And no, it's not just the old. 69% of French 18 to 24 year olds support suspending legal immigration for three years. This is not a fringe. This is the French people. In 2005, we were asked if we wanted the European Constitution. 55% voted no. Three years later, our politicians passed the same text under another name, through parliament, without ever asking us again. That is modern France in one sentence. The people say no. The elites do it anyway. So who is responsible? The politicians who lied to us. A class of leaders formed in the same schools, the same forums, the same networks, loyal to each other before they are loyal to their nations. In 2017, at Harvard, Klaus Schwab, founder of the World Economic Forum, bragged about his Young Global Leaders program in four words: "We penetrate the cabinets." He added that it was true in France. Emmanuel Macron was one of his Young Global Leaders. It's the same project in Brussels with Ursula von der Leyen and in Paris with Macron. Borders treated as an obstacle. Nations treated as relics. The people treated as a problem to be managed. What you are watching in France is not the French people failing. It is the end of the globalist project, an abject, quasi-communist dream of a world run by unelected planners. It is collapsing everywhere in Europe at once, and the West has to cut this cancer out before it takes the rest of the body with it. The peoples of Europe don't want this. They never did. So when you see our town halls burning, don't say "the French chose this." The French never chose this. They were forced into it. If you're French and you agree, repost this so the world hears it from us. If you're American, look at us carefully. Then choose differently on November 3rd.

In October 2023, I was invited to the Battle of Ideas. The pro Palestine marches had only just begun. At one point, on my way there on the first day, some of the marchers spotted the crucifix around my neck and surrounded me, shouting, “After Saturday comes Sunday.” It was the first time I had ever heard the phrase and I had no idea what it meant. I know now. It meant, “When we’ve finished with the Jews, we’re coming for the Christians.” The following morning, on my way back to the Battle of Ideas, I passed the statue of Boudicca, a woman whose young daughters were raped by an invading army, and who, so enraged by what had been done to them and to her people, raised an enormous Celtic army, marched on Roman London and burned it to the ground. Her statue now stands on Westminster Bridge, looking towards Parliament, a permanent reminder of what happens when a mother, and a people, are pushed beyond endurance. That Sunday morning, Boudicca had been covered in flags and graffiti. I was absolutely furious. I tried desperately to climb up and pull them down myself, but the statue was simply too high. I asked people passing to help me, and a few tried, but none of us could reach them. So, in a bit of a panic, I called @LozzaFox and told him what had happened. Without a second thought he said, “I’ll be there in ten minutes with a ladder.” And he was. He didn’t actually have a ladder, as it turned out, so we commandeered one from a nearby stall, and without hesitation he climbed up and started pulling down the flags that had been draped over Boudicca. I remember feeling physically sick looking at it, because this wasn’t some random statue to me. This was Boudicca, a woman and a mother whose daughters had been violated, who refused to submit quietly, and who became one of the most powerful symbols of resistance in British history. She is the woman and mother many of us would hope we could become if, God forbid, our own children were ever harmed. As I now watch what is happening across France, as I see images of Joan of Arc being desecrated, and watch ordinary people fighting against those trying to erase, vandalise and destroy the history and culture around them, I keep thinking back to that morning in London. I remember the physical revulsion and genuine emotional upset I felt seeing one of our national heroes treated like that. And I understand exactly why people are angry. Our statues remind us of who we are and who we need to be. Tearing them down, desicrating them, vandelising them is telling you what they would happily do to you. Funny thing I notice every time I talk to French people who've never lived in the US. They see Americans as the bad guys. "They lobby Brussels." "They crush our companies." "They take all the value." Here's the truth: Americans aren't the problem. They're just playing the game. And they play it extremely well. You write absurd rules? They'll play by your absurd rules. They have more capital, more talent, more speed, better execution. So they win. Every single time. That's not imperialism. That's competition. The only ones responsible for Europe's situation are Europeans. More precisely, our inability to get rid of the central planners who keep stacking absurd regulation on top of absurd regulation, and the bureaucrats like Macron who think building a tech ecosystem means writing plans, hosting summits and launching useless commissions. You don't create startups with a five-year plan. You create them by getting out of the way. Silicon Valley wasn't built at a summit. It was built by people who were allowed to take risks, fail, raise money and hire fast. As long as these people run Europe, nothing will happen. Absolutely nothing. Stop blaming Washington. Look in the mirror.

Labour pointed to a £22B black hole when they took power. Since then, they've added £70B in tax hikes and £310B in borrowing-with taxpayers paying the price. The issue isn't a lack of government funds; IT'S AN INABILITY TO CONTROL SPENDING🇬🇧

What a disgusting attitude you have. Today’s pensioners & those nearing pension age paid for the previous generations pension & that generation paid for the previous one again. That’s how it works & that’s how it’s always worked. It’s selfish people like you who begrudge a pensioners small pension. How do you know that you won’t receive a pension? Let’s hope the generation that pays yours won’t be so begrudgingly selfish.
Today's pensioners and those close to pension age know full well that Gen Z, Millennials and Gen X are paying for their pensions They feel they are entitled as they paid in themselves They are not entitled, they are eligible for it The entitled part is their attitude, they are the entitled generation They are happy taking their pensions knowing we are paying for it, yet also knowing we are unlikely to see the state pension ourselves They are not only entitled, but they are taking our tax knowing we won't see it back for themselves So long as they are ok jack is the boomer attitude

The Fosse Way, a major ancient Roman road in Britain that runs diagonally from Exeter in the southwest to Lincoln in the northeast.... Romans laid out this 182 mile road in an almost perfectly straight line. Shortly after invading Britain in AD 43, Roman surveyors charted a remarkably direct route across the landscape. What makes it extraordinary is its precision: along the 182 mile stretch between Lincoln and Ilchester, the road never strays more than six miles from a perfectly straight line, cutting through Leicester, Cirencester, and Bath while steadily forging across hills and rivers. Taking its name from fossa, the Latin word for ditch, the road was used as the frontier marker of Roman territory during the early decades of the occupation. Incredible. Beyond this line lay untamed lands outside Rome’s control. Today, much of this ancient highway remains beneath modern asphalt. Major routes like the A46 (Lincoln to Leicester), the A429 (into Cirencester), and the A37 (towards Ilchester) follow its exact path—meaning if you've traveled near Newark, Stow, or Shepton Mallet, you’ve likely driven along a 2,000-year-old Roman road without realizing it. #drthehistories
