Thousands of young Georgians leave the country each year in search of better economic opportunities, with many moving west.
As questions grow over Georgia’s European path, I spoke to people who have emigrated about what it would take for them to return.

- 19yo with disorder that makes him prone to blood clots
- calls an ambulance with symptoms typical of a blood clot in the lungs
- blood test to rule out blood clot not performed
- discharged with antibiotics
- reattended A&E later same day coughing up blood (red flag for blood clot). Discharged again.
- saw GP a week later who sent to A&E as had obvious symptoms of blood clot
- discharged with no investigation for blood clots from A&E again as doctor “forgot” to refer to be admitted for tests
- attended later same day as symptoms worsening. WAS actually admitted but communication so poor and kept in waiting room on a chair after “admission” that he didn’t realise he’d been admitted and went home to sleep.
- died next day at home
His life would have been saved with a simple blood test at any of the FIVE separate encounters with medical professionals.
Asma al-Assad: She grew up in London. Her husband ran Syria. Why has the UK never prosecuted her?
anewz.tv/region/middle-east/…
In 2021, British prosecutors reportedly decided against pursuing war crimes charges against Asma al-Assad, then First Lady of Syria, because she was unlikely to return to the UK.
While the family have barely been seen in public since their move, reports have appeared in the media that she is seeking to divorce Bashar and return to London, where she was born and raised.
With five years now passed and Asma's circumstances conclusively altered, will the UK ever prosecute Asma al-Assad?

This is straightforwardly wrong, though: Bakare's initial investigation was a model of how to approach this kind of thing seriously and sensitively, with a proper acknowledgement of the malicious intent behind the original story and the stakes involved. Have a care

A few things about last few days have made me deeply uncomfortable.
1. The no of ppl in positions of responsibility who aren't following Samaritans guidelines, which exist to prevent further suicide. Some have unwittingly been elevating suicide as a way to shape the narrative.

I'm sorry, but it is actually insane that we're being told someone who retained CARTER RUCK as an attack dog was a smol bean victim of press harassment

Many people are seemingly fine with having the police investigate journalists for 4 months (for asking questions) or seeming to fabricate claims regarding the most horrendous intimidation possible, as long as it’s their side.
That’s seemingly the world now.
V minor point but why do so many ppl keep calling Jason Arday ‘young’??????
He was 41.
The infantilisation is off the scale.

It's very confusing to see people on the Left calling for more regulation of the press.
All hard and soft law regulating the press has been used - and is used - by the wealthy and powerful to silence their critics.

2/ A major reason this story didn't come out until it did, and a major reason it metastasized to the size it did, was because Jason Arday weaponized the U.K.'s insane approach to libel laws and "online harassment" to sic cops and lawyers on good-faith critics. There's a...
