Astonishing that the super picky Amol Rajan accepted Alice in Wonderland when that’s not actually its title when he’ll deny points for what are basically mispronunciations. #universitychallenge

A document has been circulated to me today stating that the NEU will be lobbying the SoS this week regarding concerns about the latest KCSiE guidance. @DanielKebedeNEU are you able to let members know what these concerns are and what changes you are asking for?

A German soldier stopped at the front of the line and stared. He knew that face. It was Janusz Korczak — the beloved Polish-Jewish doctor and writer whose books he had grown up reading. The soldier quietly offered him a way out: “Step aside. Disappear. Live.” Korczak shook his head. He took the hands of the two smallest children beside him… and kept walking toward the train. There had been many such offers. He refused them all. Born Henryk Goldszmit, Korczak was a renowned pediatrician, author of children’s books, and radio voice beloved across Poland. He could have lived a comfortable life. Instead, in 1912 he founded Dom Sierot — an extraordinary orphanage in Warsaw where children ran their own parliament, court, and newspaper. His one sacred rule: A child is not someone who will matter one day. A child matters now. He lived among them for thirty years as their father. When the Nazis sealed the Warsaw Ghetto in 1940, Korczak moved the orphanage inside. Friends begged him to escape — he looked Polish, he was famous, he could pass. He refused. “I will not leave my children.” Inside the starving ghetto, he begged for food, carried heavy sacks on his failing back, and tracked every child’s heartbreaking weight loss by candlelight. He was starving too. On August 5, 1942, the soldiers came. Korczak calmly told the 192 children they were going to the countryside for fresh air. He had them dress in their best clothes. Each carried a small bag with a favorite book or doll. Then the old doctor led them out — 192 children walking in calm rows behind him, holding his hands, the smallest in his arms. No crying. No panic. Just quiet dignity as they marched three miles through the ghetto to the Umschlagplatz. At the platform, the final offer came. Once more, Korczak refused. He climbed into the cattle car with his children and staff. They were murdered upon arrival at Treblinka. He could not save their lives. He knew it. So he saved the only thing left: their dignity and their sense of not being alone. In the darkest place on earth, Janusz Korczak gave those children the one thing the Nazis could not take — a hand to hold until the very end. Today at Treblinka, among 17,000 stones, one bears the name: Janusz Korczak and the Children. He had none of his own. He died with 192 of them. May their memory be a blessing.

How have we come to this? Men in Sall has been fined for not allowing a man to join her women only online platform. A dark day for women’s rights. #IStandWithSallGrover
I am absolutely devastated Men who claim to be women have more rights than actual women in Australia. It is women who are being discriminated against, not the men who claim to be us. But in a sense, nothing has changed: we will all wake up tomorrow & men will still not be women.

The Full Federal Court has handed down its judgement in Giggle v Tickle. In a shock to women across the country - Sall Grover not only lost her appeal, the Court set aside the original finding of indirect discrimination and replaced it with direct discrimination, upholding Tickle's cross-appeal. The damages were doubled from $10,000 to $20,000. It’s important to note the Court expressly said it was only applying the Sex Discrimination Act as it is written- it is "not empowered to give effect to its own view" about whether that law is desirable. In 2013, @JuliaGillard’s @AustralianLabor government amended the Sex Discrimination Act- stripping the meaning out of "man" and "woman" and adding gender identity as a protected attribute to be pitted against biological sex. Today's outcome is proof of what those amendments have done: women are left with no meaningful rights or recognition under the Sex Discrimination Act - a bitter irony, given that protecting women was the very purpose of the Act under our commitment to CEDAW. In my opinion, this is a verdict on the law, not on Sall. The judges found that the law - as that government amended it - left them no other conclusion. These amendments must be repealed. The Sex Discrimination Act must once again recognise biological reality and protect women's right to single-sex spaces. What a dark and devastating day for Australian women and girls. #RepealTheSDA2013 #IStandWithSallGrover #GigglevTickle #Auspol

Shared this brilliant video many times. But after a week of arguing with men who think wearing plastic breasts to work is normal, it’s time to share it again. You know what is ‘normal’. I know too. Never be shamed into pretending you don’t. youtube.com/watch?v=_FLd0kp_…

Can journalists stop saying someone “called for” x to happen when that’s not what happened? For example, I heard Streeting this morning, he agreed that people should be sacked when asked directly for his view but he didn’t “call for” any sackings as the 6 o’clock news said.
