Before any new criminal law, Parliament must ask three questions. Is it necessary? Is it clear? Is it proportionate? It should fill a defined legal gap, backed by evidence. If the Conversion Practices Bill can't pass those tests, Parliament shouldn't proceed. #ConversionPracticesBill #SafeguardingChildren

At what age can a child give informed consent to puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones? On Thursday 22 October, Baroness Deech will put that question to the Government in the House of Lords. Children can't vote, buy a pint or get a tattoo. Yet some were given drugs that may affect their fertility and bones for life. Peers, please ask it plainly. Oh get in the bin with this nonsense.
Women across our country need better support at work. That's why we're asking employers to publish action plans, setting out how they'll close the gender pay gap and support women experiencing menopause. @bphillipsonMP visited @cambsfrs to see how they’re leading the way.

19 OCTOBER 2001 FIVE YEARS OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH... ON THE WRONG BRAINS! It sounds like something from a comedy sketch, but this was a very real and very expensive scientific mistake. That caused additional stress to the farming community. In October 2001, it emerged that a five-year research project investigating whether BSE, commonly known as mad cow disease, had spread to sheep had been using the wrong animal tissue. Scientists had been studying what they believed were sheep brain samples. There was just one rather enormous problem.🐄 The samples were actually from cattle! The £217,000 project, conducted by the Institute for Animal Health in Edinburgh, had been intended to establish whether BSE might be present in Britain's sheep population. The discovery threw the findings into question and prompted an independent investigation... And this was not simply an embarrassing laboratory mishap. The research had potentially significant consequences for animal health policy, farming and public confidence. The episode remains a striking reminder that even sophisticated scientific research depends upon getting the fundamentals right. Five years of work. Thousands of samples. The wrong species.

I recall this moment vividly, because my own children were being politicised at the same time in their schools… pressurised to join the climate strike marches, bombarded with BLM and LGBT+ propaganda, told what to think about vaccines, imperialism, Brexit, the monarchy, the Ukraine war, having cross dressing boys in their changing rooms, which news sources to trust, how to deal with their anxiety for having white privilege - even being told outright to just vote for Jeremy Corbyn when they were old enough. This is a kind of child abuse, in my opinion. To use children as props in political discourse is an abuse of their earnestness and naivety - one which also potentially exposes the child and children generally to inappropriate adult control for selfish purposes, at a personal and cultural level. It was a truly shameful display on the part of all three uni-party politicians present.
Never forget the British establishment who cheerleaded for her.

I don't know how far you go back but do you remember tiny razors for women, I watched North by Northwest when Cary Grant undid a tiny box and pulled out a 1" gold razor and raised his eyebrows. Don't get me started on pockets in women's clothes, so many are just zips or sewn up.

A child who starts binding, takes a new name, or asks to be seen as the opposite sex has boarded a train. The line runs through new name and pronouns, to new clothes and haircut, to binding (or taping, or tucking), to blockers and hormones, and finally, to various surgeries. Every station exists to deliver passengers to the next one. Your child may tell you she plans to get off early, and she may even believe it. But her ticket still names the destination. Look at what each early step is for. A binder is a crude, painful approximation of a male chest, and a mastectomy is the permanent version. A girl who darkens her peach fuzz mustache with mascara is imitating the facial hair testosterone would give her. A boy who shaves his body and grows out his hair is rehearsing what estrogen promises. These early steps are practice runs for the medical ones, and they make sense only in light of where they point. When a parent sees them and feels a cold drop in the stomach, that feeling is accurate perception; your gut has read the direction of travel correctly. This is what I mean by shifting the burden of proof. Your child’s behavior has already made a claim about where she is headed. If she wants you to believe she will step off before the end of the line, the job of convincing you belongs to her, and “I’m not thinking about that” falls far short of the mark. Until she shows you otherwise, you are entitled to believe what you see. Keep reading on Substack. Link below.

Thank you, Baroness Deech, for asking the question too many have avoided. Children can't legally buy a pint, get a tattoo or vote. So how can they give informed consent to drugs that may affect their fertility, bones and sexual function for life? Thursday 22 October. Peers, please ask it plainly. 🏛️ HOUSE OF LORDS | THURSDAY 22 OCTOBER 2026: AT WHAT AGE CAN A CHILD GIVE INFORMED CONSENT TO PUBERTY BLOCKERS OR CROSS-SEX HORMONES? Baroness Deech has secured a one-hour parliamentary debate asking the Government precisely that question. This is not a vote on legislation. It is an opportunity for peers to question ministers about the evidence, age, capacity, consent and safeguards surrounding these medical interventions. The debate comes amid significant developments: 🔹 The Cass Review identified serious limitations in the evidence for these treatments in children. 🔹 Puberty blockers for gender dysphoria are restricted to approved clinical research, including the proposed PATHWAYS trial. 🔹 NHS England has paused new prescriptions of cross-sex hormones for under-18s while reviewing its clinical policy. 🔹 Important questions remain about long-term outcomes, informed consent, clinical oversight and prescribing outside NHS services. @ProtectTeach has provided Baroness Deech with a detailed research briefing ahead of this debate. Parliament must examine not only whether a child can understand the immediate treatment proposed, but whether the available evidence allows the material risks, uncertainties and potential long-term consequences to be explained adequately. (The only safeguarding answer is NO child can consent) Children's safeguarding demands rigorous evidence, meaningful consent and accountable clinical practice. 📅 Thursday 22 October 2026 🏛️ House of Lords one-hour short debate 🔗 whatson.parliament.uk/event/…

You still have time to let the Peers in the HoL know that you WANT single sex wards in hospitals and you DON@T think children can consent to life changing drugs... Two important issues deserve proper parliamentary scrutiny: ♀️ Single-sex NHS provision: Are women's privacy, dignity and safety being protected in practice? 👧 Puberty blockers: Are the evidence, risks, safeguards and informed consent being examined rigorously? xitter.cf/JenKteach/status/21085…

👏 Congratulations to Professor Sallie Baxendale on her #MaddoxPrize shortlisting! She asked a simple, essential question: what happens to the developing brain when puberty is paused? For that, she faced abuse instead of answers. The Cass Review later found the evidence base for puberty blockers was remarkably weak, which is exactly what she'd warned about. Science depends upon our freedom to question evidence, identify gaps and challenge assumptions. When medical interventions involve developing children, those questions become even more important... Researchers should never face personal abuse for raising legitimate concerns about safety, efficacy or long-term outcomes. Protecting children and protecting scientific inquiry should go hand in hand.
UCL professor Sallie Baxendale, who has faced personal abuse and smear campaigns after she raised concerns over the impact of puberty blockers on young people’s brains, has been shortlisted for the Maddox Prize for “standing up for science”. @jgro_the reports #science #research #MaddoxPrize timeshighereducation.com/new…

These flags are political. They have no place in any school. The Education Act 1996 already says schools must forbid the promotion of partisan political views and give pupils a balanced picture. Staff can fly whatever flag they like outside work. In school, the job is teaching. A 'Rainbow Flag Award' should be a red flag to parents, and a chance to say enough.

Great story. If I was sending my daughter to this school I would want to know: - are the girls compelled to call him Miss / Ms - is he involved in a pastoral role with the girls (this is a boarding school) eg ‘house mistress’ which allows close access to girls in their bedrooms and common rooms - is he involved in sports coaching which would require some supervision of changing rooms Also: The Pride Club… what is being discussed, who are the invited speakers, what age are the girls allowed to join? Was this teacher’s surgery discussed in school with the girls, ie normalising it? This is so wrong on so many levels.

And this teacher runs the school's Pride club. That's exactly why we're worried about the 120+ LGBTQ+ lunchtime clubs in schools. Parents usually don't have to consent, and often don't know their child is going. Who's running them? What's being said? Parents deserve to know. #AskAndSee #ParentsRights
🚨 NEW: An English teacher at a 28k a year private girls’ school crowdfunded for “bottom surgery” in Thailand in during the summer. And his headteacher's name appears to be amongst the donors. He wrote about the experience for his Go Fund Me page - which remained live - until the school was approached for comment this afternoon. My latest for [Un]Captured - link below 👇

Well done to them, shame on the adults who allowed it to come to this, and forced them to take a stand on their own. They should never have had to do this.
These brave girls took a massive stand today by walking off the field at their cross country meet. They were on the same team as the boy, so an even more courageous act! I was there! And I stand with these girls!!

Re the conversion practices bill…where is the gap in the law? Where is the evidence that new legislation is necessary? @BayswaterSG @murdo_fraser @BinTheBill_ @Jebadoo2 @CMochan @nickwallis @WWWheesht @HumanGayMale
The lack of evidence to support the 'transgender identity' aspect of the government's conversion practices bill would be risible if the consequences were not so appalling. Let's take what is virtually the opening paragraph of the updated Equality Impact Assessment, which claim "There is growing evidence on the harm associated with conversion practices, including long lasting damage to those who go through it". A footnote is given with 3 references, which an innocent reader might imagine would back up that claim. Two of the references relate to work commissioned by the Government Equalities Office in 2021 to research conversion therapy (which was the term used before the broader concept of 'conversion practices' was adopted). How confident are these researchers that their work offered reliable evidence? In their own words: "Whether or not these experiences constitute ‘conversion therapy’ may depend on the definition, but they were perceived to be so by the interviewees." As for specific examples of 'conversion' on people with a gender identity, the researchers chose to cite cases in therapy such as "looking for ‘causes’ by discussing childhood trauma and family relationships". Yet government officials have repeatedly stated that exploratory therapy of this kind does NOT qualify as 'conversion'. In summary, the 2021 research admits that what is reported as 'conversion' might not qualify as such, and fails to offer any examples of even subjective claims of so-called gender identity conversion that would warrant criminal sanctions. What about the 3rd reference cited in the EqIA? This is a report by the American Psychological Association, which states: "we limited our review to sexual orientation and did not address gender identity". In conclusion: 3 citations, no evidence that could remotely be relied on for the accompanying claim as it relates to (trans)gender identity. And this is the basis for introducing a new criminal offence punishable with up to 5 years in prison.
