Apparently the entire french tax code has been written in OCaml: xitter.cf/DMerigoux/status/12807…
Thanks to the help of @dgfip_officiel, we're close to a 100% perfect replication of the French income tax computation ! πŸŽ‰βœ…πŸ’― We use the sources framagit.org/dgfip/ir-calcul and compile them with gitlab.inria.fr/verifisc/mla…, and test our Mlang system with DGFiP's private test set.

I've seen linear types used in smart contract systems like Move language, but has anyone seen a type system for tracking cost-basis and taxes?

One problem with "mostly right" takes on my dissertation is when they see the trees but not the forest. REST isn't about APIs; it's about system interaction for network-based apps. But the constraints were also designed to induce a uniform network-based API (URI+HTTP+HTML+etc).
Roy Fielding's Misappropriated REST Dissertation b.mamund.com/3BegqLO "given that @Fielding’s dissertation was all about avoiding silver bullet software architectures, how did REST become a de facto standard for web services of every kind?" -- @TwoBitHistory #api360 #REST

The #SummitForDemocracy was stellar. πŸŽ‡ I urge all free countries to invest like #Taiwan in civic technologies to strengthen democracy. πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡Ό Reliable infrastructure makes our lives simpler & more convenient. Public digital infrastructure does the same for democracy. πŸ’» #LLAP πŸ––

I just love the direction MirageOS is going in. The team is plumbing reproducible binary unikernel builds all the way through the whole OCaml ecosystem, from opam to dune to the mirage CLI itself. Really nice work, Hannes and friends at Robur!

Provenance is something that blockchain and the like can do. But behind provenance is people. So provenance is only as strong as the people behind. And therefore we need an β€˜identity something’ to explain the provenance of the people behind the provenance of the stuff. ...

Thanks to @mattblaze I just dipped my toes into a very strange reality crafted by GOP/Orangeman supporters. That was something awful. Something I managed to avoid by blocking and keeping quiet when my namesake was National Security Advisor. The human condition is weird.
Hasn’t done much for me? It let me fake my way into a cushy CS and law professor job, which isn’t bad as grifts go.

I shit on on-chain governance. It's crypto bros who know jack reinventing the wheel. It's barely done off chain, with centuries of joint stock, partnership, membership and associations and company law as a backdrop. And John Snow know nothings wanna do on chain?
