I already have two books I need to finish writing AND a documentary to produce but if I had the time and space, the book I'd want to write next is "AI Design Patterns". Lot's of shallow/early books out already, but none I have read look at the more fundamental patterns emerging for harnesses, along with a sound examination of the tradeoffs of each. From the lens of my world as an architect, this is a very exciting, vibrant time.

After nearly 30 years, I’ve handed off the amundsen.com domain. That chapter closes. A new one begins. I’m moving to mamund.com—still speaking, writing, and advising. (1/2)

Indeed. In the first ages of AI, writing a program to play checkers or chess or Jeopardy or Go was seen as an analog to human intelligence. In this current age, language is the proxy for human intelligence. Both yielded interesting results; both have vastly misunderstood the exquisite and messy nature of human intelligence, consciousness, and sentience.
A strikingly lucid column from @mims. The Turing Test has become the Turing Trap. One of my favorite aspects of AI is that it essentially acts as an invariant which distinguishes between modes of human cognition that were previously harder to tease apart. The nut graf: "At the time, language was thought to be closely associated with reasoning, but modern neuroscience shows us that it’s a separate process. Speaking isn’t the same as thinking, let alone being." wsj.com/tech/ai/ai-tools-sen…

> REST's deepest insight wasn't about HTTP methods or status codes. It was this: separate the what from the how, and unanticipated clients become possible. Fielding designed REST so a server could be written once, and clients that were never imagined at design time could still use it correctly — because the uniform interface made behavior discoverable, not assumed. ALPS inherits exactly that spirit. Define the application semantics once — ontology, taxonomy, choreography — and unanticipated uses of that definition emerge naturally. Nobody designed ALPS specifically to: ・Make wireframes that reveal vocabulary on hover ・Give AI agents a noise-free semantic document to consume ・Double as an accessibility specification ・Drive both a hypermedia API and its HTML frontend from the same profile But all of these fall out naturally — because the profile describes what the application is, not how it's rendered. Just as REST's uniform interface allowed browsers, mobile apps, and IoT devices to consume the same API, ALPS's semantic contract allows designers, developers, AI agents, and screen readers to consume the same structure.

What if LLMs acted as assistants, not solo coders? 🤖 @SuranaShraddha from @Thoughtwork’s #ArcOfAI talk reveals a human-ratified system that keeps humans in control while AI generates reliable, maintainable code. More info: arcofai.com/speaker/ec7d7c37… 🎟️ arcofai.com
