The kidney patient community had a chance at two big wins when the Honor Our Living Donors Act and OPTN Fee Reform was included in the original CR. Now, there is nothing for our patients who are patiently waiting for a lifesaving transplant. #governmentshutdown #noonewins

The original CR included the HOLD Act and a reform to OPTN Fees, but it was removed from the second version despite being bipartisan and costing nothing. I doubt it will appear again in the third version, but now patients will get nothing.

@chuckgrassley, please include HOLD and OPTN Fee reform in the year end package! These are bipartisan, no-cost, patient-centric provisions to get more people life-saving transplants!

TW: Suicide. 7 years ago today, Kalief Browder died. At 16, he was falsely accused of stealing a backpack, charged with a violent felony & prosecuted as an adult. The judge set bail beyond what his family could afford. He suffered at Rikers for 3 years, incl. 2 in solitary. 1/8
