We are happy to present our newest publication in @ScienceMagazine about safer aryldiazonium chemistry!
Nitrate is reduced to generate aryldiazoniums as fleeting intermediates for the direct conversion of anilines and aminoheterocycles to arylhalides.

In @J_A_C_S, we show the extension of our nitrate-reduction-based diazotization strategy to aliphatic amines! Consecutive nitrate reduction by substoichiometric hydroquinone is key and enables in-situ diazotization followed by (pseudo)halogenation!

In @NatureSynthesis, we present a new method for the modular assembly of 3,3'-diaryloxetanes! Key: Tetrafluoropyridyl esters generated from aryl halides and 3-oxetanone balance stability with reactivity towards subsequent Ni-catalyzed cross-coupling!

In @Nature, we show that alkyl thianthrenium salts can be used as metal carbene precursors with a great safety profile! Iron- and copper-catalysed cyclopropanations (even on 100 mmol scale!), bond insertions, rearrangements — alkyl–TT salts do them all!

In @Nature, we show that redox-active esters can be transformed into alkyl zinc species useful for transmetalation, providing a solution to rate matching in XEC reactions! First application: alkylation of alkenes via polar decarboxylative cross-coupling!

Synthesis of 1,3-Dienes from Alkenes via Alkenyl Thianthrenium Salts | Journal of the American Chemical Society pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/jac…
Alkenyl–TTs are known to react as electrophiles with transition metal catalysts or with organic nucleophiles in the presence of base, but what happens when you combine all three? You can, for instance, make 1,3-dienes!
Out now in @J_A_C_S ! 🔓
