A little late, but I'm delighted to share that I received the Best Talk Award at the 28th Heart of Europe Bio-Crystallography Meeting (HEC28) in Blansko, Czech Republic! 🥳🥳 It was a pleasure to present our cryo-EM and functional analyses of bacterial defense systems #antiphage
Excited to share my first sole-author publication: “Optimizing Phage Therapy with Antidefense Proteins Acquired from the Environment” 🥳 Here I explore how the evolutionary arms race between bacteria and phages can be leveraged to improve phage therapy shorturl.at/DasfY
Phages in the clouds!!🧫🌥️⛈️
We performed metagenomic analyses of iron-flocculated cloud water alongside genome analyses of bacterial isolates and metagenome-assembled genomes to discover >400 vOTUs. Diversity and virus-host interactions, in cloud events were also investigated

I'm thrilled to announce our latest work is now published in Cell! Viruses encode numerous proteins that inhibit host defenses, but identifying immune-modulatory proteins among millions of viral sequences has been nearly impossible - until now!
