NERDY PARKING STUFF: A few years ago @chenderson and @CMBrookePinto suggested that D.C. replace the existing ward-based residential parking zones with more smaller ones. Well, a new report from @TheLab_DC says smaller zones wouldn't really help with parking issues.

Looks like what runners and cyclists feared could come true: Trump’s plans for a new golf course at East Potomac Park seem to eliminate the existing three-mile roads that circles the island. It’s a popular destination for running, riding, and driving access to Hains Point.
New: Trump says that East Potomac Golf Course will close on Nov 15 for the redesign by Tom Fazio.
“Restoration work will begin on the Fazio Design on November 15th, when the old Course will be closed to play. The new Course will be opened in approximately 15 months.”
This comes as there is a heated legal dispute right now about whether the government can redesign the course.

D.C. police told me some new details in the tragic scooter accident that left Talib Shakir dead last week:
- neither Shakir nor the woman were wearing helmets
- Shakir was riding a private e-scooter that could reach up to 55 mph
- the woman was riding a ride-share scooter, which are capped at 10 mph in D.C.
- investigators have not yet determined how fast the scooters were going when they collided
