Politico has apparently discovered a new method of calculating emigration, by counting everyone crossing a border in both directions, then declaring that they all left Russia.
So, 113,000 people crossed the Russia-Georgia border in both directions (source) below, but Politico reports that 113,000 Russians had left Russia. Howvever, Georgian figures for August 17–24 actually show 52,953 entering Georgia and 61,691 leaving it.
Thus, the so-called great Russian exodus was, on balance, actually travelling towards Russia.

Zelensky's suddenly intensified fascist revisionism in historical politics, seemingly self-defeating abroad and at home, the escalating ethnonationalism, and his growing reliance and dependence on far-right units within the army all have to do with the corruption/anti-corruption conflict, sociopolitical disintegration, and the deepening mobilization crisis.
The trio of Ukraine’s most politically influential active military commanders at the funeral of pre-WWII Hitler’s ally Yevhen Konovalets attended by Zelensky: Azov movement leader and Third Corps commander Andriy Biletsky, commander-in-chief Mykhailo Drapaty, Azov Corps commander Denys Prookopenko.
Zelensky’s current power base is currently reduced to SBU, Azov structures backed by Renat Akhmetov and a shaky parliamentary mono-majority controlled by David Arakhamia.
Dogged by anti-corruption investigation which is backed by Ukraine’s key funders, Zelensky is building a vertical of power similar to Putin’s, but more militarised and with a more pronounced far right element.

“Russia” was not colonial through the USSR.
USSR was a multinational developmentalist state. Russian nationhood was undermined & did not define “Soviet”
USSR was an integrated, industrial economy organized through nationalizing territories w/out colonial core-periphery ⬇️ 1/2

The Masha and the Bear idiocy isn't about a Soviet-looking cap or a bit of tax earnings, but the suggestion that Russia has a lively, appealing (consumer) culture. That it isn't Mordor or about to implode, but like us: we make nice stuff AND we do horrendous wars of aggression.

These T-shirts glorifying the 1st SS Panzer Division Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler are sold by the brand of the neo-Nazi organization Misanthropic Division, one of the groups that stood at the origins of the Azov Battalion. Their office is in Kyiv.
Their merchandise openly violates Ukraine's law condemning the Nazi regime, which provides for criminal penalties of up to five years in prison.
And yet, somehow, no one is prosecuted. Not a single arrest. Not a single criminal case.
Why do you think that is?🤔

Zelenskyy, 2021: In a video recorded in Russian (!), he mocked the idea of banning Mikhail Bulgakov’s The Master and Margarita in Ukraine, calling it “folly on a universal scale” — a clear nod to Prof. Preobrazhensky’s famous line from Bulgakov.
Zelenskyy, 2026: Silent as rabid nationalists denounce Kyiv-born Bulgakov as an “Ukrainophobe” and tear down the monument standing beside his museum.
What was once “folly on a universal scale” apparently became state policy somewhere along the way.

If anyone thinks only Russia runs influence ops, find a bridge to sell them.
You can safely assume every major government is doing this around the world to advance foreign policy goals, targeting both adversaries and friendly states alike.
The US, EU and UK have spent decades funding media, NGOs, activists and information networks inside Russia under the banner of “civil society.”
But when Russia returns the favour, it’s called “psychological warfare.” Which is amusing, to say the least.
I don’t think conservatives realize how much Russian propaganda we have been fed over the last few years as “independent journalism”.
It’s starting to become very clear to me how many people who claimed to be defenders of the West were just saying that to suck in a pro-West audience so they could slowly brainwash them with foreign propaganda until they could convince their viewers to work against the West.
Those “interviews” we all defended were not actually interviews. They were psychological operations meant to weaponize political factions in America for the purpose of pushing foreign interests.
And many of us fell for it because we let our anger with the system get the best of us and we decided to trust personalities who have never been honest about who they are and where they come from.
I’m starting to think the entire podcast ecosystem is and always has been on giant psychological and information warfare operation.
Criminals and terrorists no longer need billions of dollars for weapons and aircraft. They just need an influencer and podcast budget to create more damage to our society than high powered weapons.
I hope the DOJ will investigate all of this.
It’s a shame so many false accusations of Russian collusion were spread over the last 10 years as a way to smear Donald Trump and his allies with lies, because now that actual Russian interference is here in our media and on social media, nobody believes it’s real.
It’s starting to get very creepy just how coordinated, organized and well funded this OPP is.

Zelensky: "Colonel Andriy Melnyk returned to a different Ukraine – not the one he had been forced to leave, but the one he had dreamed of."
Melnyk in July 1941: "We believe that Adolf Hitler’s new order in Europe is the real order, and that Ukraine is one of the avant-gardes."
Zelensky & his government reburied fascist OUN leader & Nazi collaborator. Melnyk OUN organized with Nazis police, SD battalion & SS Galicia Division which perpetrated mass murder of Jews, Poles & Ukrainians. Zelensky standing ovation to SS Galicia Division veteran in Canadian parliament was not accident. He called Melnyk, who praised Hitler, "Ukrainian hero."

2019: Zelensky honored his grandfather, Semyon Zelensky, who fought against the Nazis in the ranks of the Red Army.
2026: Zelensky honors the OUN leader Andriy Melnyk, who collaborated with the Nazis and helped facilitate the creation of the Waffen-SS Galicia Division, which swore allegiance to Hitler and killed members of the anti-Nazi resistance movement in Slovakia and the former Yugoslavia.
It seems that Azov is now shaping Ukraine’s politics of memory.

Zelensky calls Nazi collaborator & leader of OUN, which organized with Nazis police, SD battalion & SS Galicia Division that perpetrated mass murder of Jews, Poles & Ukrainians, "Ukrainian hero" & announces his reburial with state honors. His standing ovation to SS Galicia Division veteran in Canadian parliament veteran was not fluke. He announces reburials in Ukraine with state honors of the founder of the fascist OUN and others, including likely Bandera, and calls this strengthening of true historical memory.
Zelensky stated: " Our Ukrainian heroes of different times, who defended the idea of independence, fought for our state and are buried in Europe, in America, in different countries. We are returning them. We have the opportunity and moral obligation to rebury them here, in Ukraine, at home. Now such a process has begun regarding Colonel Andriy Melnyk and his wife Sofia. Iconic Ukrainians of the 20th century, who are respected. Decisions are being prepared regarding Colonel Yevhen Konovalets and other strong historical figures. The Ukrainian people deserve their historical memory, and we are strengthening this true memory. Thank you to everyone who helps us! The Office team is now focused on this task in particular. Orwellian: Zelensky government orders to rebury remains of OUN leader & Nazi collaborator on National Museum of Ukraine territory. Melnyk faction of OUN was involved in creation of Nazi SD battalion, which massacred Jews, Poles & Ukrainians, & creation of SS Galicia Division, whose veteran Zelensky gave standing ovations in Canadian parliament.
Zelensky continues to glorify Nazi collaborators and mass murderers in Ukraine.
"The Cabinet of Ministers has instructed to rebury in Ukraine the remains of a prominent Ukrainian military and political figure, colonel of the Army of the Ukrainian People's Republic (UNR), head of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) in 1938-1964, Andriy Melnyk, and his wife Sofia Fedak-Melnyk, on the territory of the National War Memorial Cemetery (NWMC).
According to Order No. 460 of May 15, the government approved a plan of measures to organize reburials and instructed central executive authorities and institutions to ensure the implementation of this plan."

It’s remarkable how much official EU WWII messaging now reflects the historical narrative of the Baltic states. It could be argued that the tail is wagging the dog.
The Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact was undeniably morally wrong, albeit signed after London and Paris brushed away Moscow’s initial alliance overtures and in the wake of the failed Munich Agreement.
But does Brussels really believe Hitler would simply have stopped without it? Britain and France declared war on Germany in 1939, not the USSR. Then, within two years, they allied with Moscow because Nazi Germany was understood to be the primary menace in Europe.
Reducing the Soviet role in WWII to simply “occupier” is more memory politics than serious history. It’s true that for millions in Eastern Europe, Soviet rule after 1945 brought repression and fear. But it’s also true that the Red Army broke the back of Hitler’s war machine at a cost so vast it left a deep trauma in the USSR which still defines Russia’s worldview today.
And it’s a slippery slope for the EU itself, given that Europe’s long postwar peace rested, to a significant extent, on German-Soviet, and later German-Russian, interdependence and on a shared acceptance, however uneasy, of the settlement that emerged from 1945.
The Kremlin claims the Soviet Union “liberated Europe” in 1945. It omits one crucial fact: WWII was enabled by the Hitler–Stalin Pact of 1939, which carved up Europe between two totalitarian regimes.
For millions in Central and Eastern Europe, Soviet “liberation” meant occupation, repression, deportations, and decades without freedom.
The Soviet Union was an occupier. Russia is an occupier in Ukraine today.
