Polish Foreign Minister Sikorski on Russia: Russia celebrates its Independence Day to mark the anniversary of the day when they chased Polish troops out of the Kremlin in 1611. I'm not kidding. We've been fighting the Russians since before the United States existed. And if they attack us, we're not going to give up.

Politico has apparently discovered a new method of calculating emigration, by counting everyone crossing a border in both directions, then declaring that they all left Russia. So, 113,000 people crossed the Russia-Georgia border in both directions (source) below, but Politico reports that 113,000 Russians had left Russia. Howvever, Georgian figures for August 17–24 actually show 52,953 entering Georgia and 61,691 leaving it. Thus, the so-called great Russian exodus was, on balance, actually travelling towards Russia.
More than 113,000 Russian citizens left Russia last week escaping from increasingly aggressive mobilisation tactics-POLITICO Wow…

Zelensky's suddenly intensified fascist revisionism in historical politics, seemingly self-defeating abroad and at home, the escalating ethnonationalism, and his growing reliance and dependence on far-right units within the army all have to do with the corruption/anti-corruption conflict, sociopolitical disintegration, and the deepening mobilization crisis.
The trio of Ukraine’s most politically influential active military commanders at the funeral of pre-WWII Hitler’s ally Yevhen Konovalets attended by Zelensky: Azov movement leader and Third Corps commander Andriy Biletsky, commander-in-chief Mykhailo Drapaty, Azov Corps commander Denys Prookopenko. Zelensky’s current power base is currently reduced to SBU, Azov structures backed by Renat Akhmetov and a shaky parliamentary mono-majority controlled by David Arakhamia. Dogged by anti-corruption investigation which is backed by Ukraine’s key funders, Zelensky is building a vertical of power similar to Putin’s, but more militarised and with a more pronounced far right element. “Russia” was not colonial through the USSR. USSR was a multinational developmentalist state. Russian nationhood was undermined & did not define “Soviet” USSR was an integrated, industrial economy organized through nationalizing territories w/out colonial core-periphery ⬇️ 1/2
Travelling to the Caucasus, “-stan” & other former USSR countries taught me what 3 BAs, a Masters & PhD studying politics hadn’t: Russia was a colonial power. Yes, even under the USSR. When anti-colonialism ignores that, it becomes anti-Westernism. Those are 2 different things.

Going viral in Russia today: a video said to show a Georgian man attacking a Russian tourist after hearing her speak Russian in a hotel. Russian reports say she suffered a broken nose and that the suspect was subsequently detained by Georgian police. I can’t independently verify the details, but the footage is attracting significant attention in Russia.

"Holiday in Poland" is the latest patch released by the Ukrainian neo-Nazi brand Runic Storm, a company linked to the extremist network Misanthropic Division. Founded in Kyiv in 2015, the brand still operates from the Ukrainian capital. For years, Runic Storm has openly manufactured and sold Nazi-themed merchandise, despite the fact that such products run counter to Ukrainian law. Yet Ukraine's law enforcement agencies have consistently turned a blind eye. Now the brand has jumped on the anti-Polish bandwagon, glorifying Nazi crimes against Poland through its latest release. It is another reminder that, while Kyiv publicly presents itself as committed to "freedom and democracy", openly neo-Nazi businesses continue to operate with apparent impunity.
