If you're stuck where there's no Internet, but you still need to message each other text, photos, videos, please try Messy, a private messaging app that works over your WiFi Hotspots. I built this yesterday for those messy no-Internet situations. APK download link in the next tweet. This requires multiple people to be on the same hotspot for messages to be delivered at a distance. It has: 1. Local chat: a public forum for people to share updates 2. Media: images and videos can be shared 3. Contacts: No mobile number needed: just scan their QR code. It shows nearby contacts. 4. Cleans on its own: you can set up disappearing messages, and set up an auto-wipe after 24 hours. You don't need those messages after you have Internet/Wifi anyway. Private by default. 5. Groups: a few people can form a group together 6. Media: if you're sharing videos with each other, there's a separate Media channel, and a gallery. Media of up to 25MB is allowed and it's compressed to 720p. No auto-download in this channel. 7. Delivery status: visible for each message 8. PIN setup on launch: so that if you misplace your phone, no one can view your messages 9. Moderation: in case someone in your group is irritating you, you can delete their messages and block them.
