I think it’s time for Anglicans to tell their Archbishops bluntly. We cannot read the INIQE report and have any confidence that Safeguarding will improve whilst obstructive Senior Officers remain in place. First departure must be the Secretary General, William Nye. Please r/t

Sic enim Deus dilexit mundum, ut Filium suum unigenitum daret: ut omnis qui credit in eum, non pereat, sed habeat vitam æternam For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life John 3:16

Why do some church leaders get very upset when they sense Christian faith is being 'hijacked' by the 'right'—when they have not breathed a word about the danger of being 'hijacked' by the 'left'? psephizo.com/life-ministry/w…

On #ArmisticeDay, we remember all who gave their lives in pursuit of peace. We especially call to mind Army chaplains who sacrificed their lives for others. Their courage will always be remembered.🙏 #WeWillRememberThem #LestWeForget @ArmyChaplainMus @PoppyLegion @wabbey

The idea that the rise of Christianity had nothing to do with its substance or ideas but was only a factor of a desire for power & money is so mad it's hard to credit. Clearly no one told Polycarp (or any of the other early martyrs, or John Chrysostom, or persecuted Middle Eastern Christians etc etc etc)
Review of Domination by Alice Roberts, Professor of Public Engagement in Science. A thread.🧵 1/17

The welfare state has removed the link between effort and reward. Benefits are no longer a ‘safety net’ — they’re a tax on the conscientious to reward the idle. It’s not just unfair, it’s immoral.
With two parents on £50k, take-home pay is £79,000. After childcare and rent, they're left with £24,800. A family on benefits renting the same house would clear £30,000 after rent with no need for childcare. You are better off on benefits than on a household income of £100k.

I gave a speech today in an empty chamber. It’s about the need for a Christian restoration.

The vote in the House of Commons in favour of the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill is a watershed moment in the history of our country. It fundamentally changes society’s long held values and relationships on matters of life and death.

Ahead of the third reading on Friday, I wish to call attention to the fact that the future of many care homes and hospices will be put in grave doubt if the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill becomes law. rcdow.org.uk/news/future-of-…

As Parliament considers legalising assisted suicide, we as Catholics oppose this change on principle. Every human life is sacred, bearing God-given dignity. This Bill elevates individual autonomy at the cost of that shared truth. rcdow.org.uk/cardinal/news/a…

My great aunt who had Downs was euthanised by Nazi doctors at the age of 5. Children like her were often “put to sleep” if they happen per chance to a hospital visit. What reads as benevolent and humane in 1933, 7 years later is basically compulsory.

On 3rd March there will be a short debate in the House of Commons at close of business. The subject is CofE Safeguarding. If you could encourage your MP to be present in the Chamber to show concern, it would be very helpful.

Hard to put into words the enormous discovery revealed at the @TheAnglicanWay's annual conference this week. The newly elected bishop of North Africa (Dr. Ashley Null) upended decades of scholarship surrounding Abp. Thomas Cranmer which assumed that Cranmer's mature Eucharistic doctrine (as found in the 1549 and 1552 Book of Common Prayer) was not influenced by thoroughly studying the church fathers. Dr. Null discovered in a Paris library hundreds and hundreds of pages of patristic eucharistic sources which were annotated by Cranmer and taken to France by his theological secretary. These Latin documents lay hidden until Dr. Null found them. What they reveal was a massive national project to discover the best patristic sources to form the English prayer book's eucharistic doctrine. One can disagree with Cranmer's conclusions, but no one can anymore claim that Cranmer was ill informed on the patristic record to be corrected by later revisionists.

Considered a cradle of English Christianity, the church of St Mary, Lastingham stands on the site of a Saxon monastery founded by St Cedd in 654. The core of the present structure was built around 1080, and it became a parish church in 1288. Its unique double-aisled Norman crypt

If the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) bill is passed, it would be the biggest change that this country has seen for many decades, on the back of less than seven hours debate. In comparison, the fox hunting bill endured hundreds of hours of debate.
