There is overwhelming evidence that the policies & funding of NHS England & GMC are set on replacing Drs with PAs When stating PAs have been integral to the NHS for 20yrs they are lying 2015 there were just 15 PAs in General Practice / 109 in hospitals

I have a very simple solution to this…. **HIRE ACTUAL GPs!!** Who are qualified to see EVERYTHING- from babies to adults, head to toe, minor to serious Who do not require supervision & are medico-legally responsible for their own work Enough with putting patients at risk!!
This is silly, expensive AND dangerous ‘practices employing PAs ‘must run an effective triage system’ that ensures PAs are only allocated pts ‘presenting with minor ailments’. PAs ‘should not hold sole responsibility for making a final diagnosis’ pulsetoday.co.uk/news/clinic…

For over 20 years I’ve taken my profoundly disabled daughter to theatres, concerts, farms, attractions and events. We booked. We turned up. We got on with our lives. Her disability never meant applying to a private company before we could have a day out #Nimbus 🪡

England’s health service has acknowledged that some of its main claims about the benefits of Palantir’s software are not causationally robust, leading to calls for an independent audit of the tech company’s impact. ft.com/content/9348bc28-fd7e…

Hi Tom, NHS consultant here. The NHS is supported by impressive, innovative and ground breaking technologies provided by a wide range of outstanding multinational corporations. It is a false dichotomy to suggest to people that if we want good health care, we must align with genocide supporting organisations like Palantir. Hope that helps. Niz
Later today protesters will demand ‘No Palantir in our NHS’    While they protest, someone, somewhere will get an operation scheduled earlier, a cancer diagnosis quicker, a loved one home from hospital sooner - thanks to the software that those protesters would switch off.   Here is what you won’t hear. Trusts using the software have recorded: • 117,000 additional operations • 14.3 per cent reduction in discharge delays for long stay patients • 5.6 per cent improvement in the number of people receiving a cancer diagnosis within 28 days     As a more articulate person once said: ‘certain facts, although in a sense known to be true, are inadmissible.’

The more I’ve read this poster, the more I shake my head in disbelief. This is literally what we are trained to do at medical students & doctors are experts in this. If your trust needs a poster to remind other HCPs “think safely” - maybe they shouldn’t be diagnosing patients!
This is what they’ve done to your medical degree You don’t despise them enough

Parents, grandparents, carers, keep your eyes peeled for showings in cinemas of a double bill of animations of 'The Tiger who came to Tea' and 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. Coming soon.

i asked what that one was for. he said, “you always said you couldn't stop watching after one episode, so i figured you'd need a warning.” i hadn't spoken to him in months, but somehow we ended up laughing about the dumbest part of our relationship: we were still arguing over Netflix.

Unregulated expansion of PA/AA roles has taken place under the direct leadership of NHS England, having done so despite clear warnings from HEE that this would be detrimental to patient care The new ‘regulation’ by GMC is just a register with no clear scope of practice or clarity

I have a new diagnosis given without ever seeing a doctor. I have been prescribed medication that says do not stop taking it without consulting a doctor. Actually, I’d really like to consult a doctor before I start taking it ‼️ #NHSNoReply

If pharmacists and APs are: 🚨Assessing complex, undifferentiated patients 🚨Rejecting referrals 🚨Filling doctor rota slots Then we need to be honest about what's happening: this is doctor substitution, with serious consequences for patients. pulsetoday.co.uk/news/clinic…

Doctors manage risk every day but its the patients who are at risk and trust doctors with that responsibility Increasingly doctors are responsible for the risk to patients of colleagues and systems over which they have no control and for which there is no evidence of safety @CMO_England was an advocate for PAs and he failed to understand the safety concerns of physicians prior to the RCP EGM The NHS 10 year plan and the skills escalator in particular loads doctors with responsibility for the risks patients will take for taskification and doctor substitution
Chris Whitty: Doctors must be trained in managing risk in patient care, CMO says. The BMJ and @acmedsci inaugural joint annual lecture given by Prof. Whitty @CMO_England covered risk, uncertainty, and medical decision-making. Watch the full lecture now: bit.ly/4AxqLBq
