If you want better output when you're working with an LLM, don't ask for just the answer. Tell the model to think "out loud" inside tags first, then return its answer inside an tag.
This works similarly as it does with your brain! If you start talking before your thoughts are fully formed, what comes out of your mouth just isn't as good.
In our lead scoring workflow on our most recent @retool webinar, this one tweak turned vague responses into consistent, parseable scores.
And it works anywhere you're calling an LLM programmatically, not just Retool.
