Things my mental illness sometimes stops me doing..
• picking up the phone
• leaving the house
• eating healthy
• exercising
• laughing
• doing my hair or makeup
• getting dressed
Sometimes being able to do one of these things is a victory.

If on shift someone asks you (especially the nurse-in-charge) whether you have had something to eat or drink, it’s not just your stomach they are inquiring about.
They may well be noticing your behaviour is changing & giving you a gentle nudge.

In the early hours of New Year’s Day 2018 I was raped while unconscious by someone I trusted. This was the beginning of a cycle of abuse that lasted years. His friends and family knew but said no one would believe me. They were wrong. He spent New Year’s Day 2023 behind bars.

Passive suicidal ideation is so common in trauma survivors that many don't bother to even mention it when they're being assessed-- it's just always there.
It becomes like the barely noticeable background music in a TV show.
