I wrote a story about how basically every man I know in my station of life β€” millennial, in a long term relationship, in possession of a fake email job β€” does all the cooking in their relationship, which is something I have a lot of theories about.

honestly impressive how stupid this guy is
Sports betting is correct but for you all that look at LeBron or any other person that are involved in prediction markets are totally misinformed on the subject. calling prediction markets sports gambling is like calling the stock market a casino. you don't have to like it, but it's a regulated exchange where people trade with each other, not a house that profits when you lose. Know the difference
Readers added context they thought people might want to know

The Los Angeles Country Club covers more land than all 73 public parks in Council Districts 8, 9 and 10 combined. Yet its 308 acres pay less in property taxes than a house across the street.

While Molly Saint-James’s late-husband Ian was going through treatments for stage-four colon cancer, the couple had become close to his almost-30-year-old oncology fellow. β€œHe was a bit of a wunderkind: He’d been chief resident and already published in many well-known medical journals by the time he began his postdoctoral fellowship at our hospital,” writes Saint-James. β€œWhen he talked to us, he never rushed, even though he had dozens more patients on his roster. Sometimes he cried with us.” After Ian passed away, Saint-James started meeting with the fellow regularly. β€œI increasingly looked forward to our every-other-week coffees at the hospital and to our random text and email exchanges,” she writes. β€œWhat had started as a goofy crush gained traction when Ian told our friend he thought I should marry our fellow. After he died, it began to feel fated. Perhaps.” But eventually, the fallout came and it was swift and painful. β€œI was devastated at the loss of another primary relationship, especially one all tangled up with Ian.” Read Saint-James’s full essay: nymag.visitlink.me/EoTMwz

As the nation prepares to mark 25 years since Sept. 11, 2001, Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Michigan, may be facing the risk of renewed scrutiny and fresh political attack. cbsn.ws/4ycfaWy

I'm in an unfortunate political/epistemic bubble where I don't think I know anyone who, personally, is deeply worried about data center construction in their community.

We need a massive change in defense strategy. The Iran War exposed a fatal flaw: the US military cannot sustain a war because we run out of munitions quickly. The entire Pentagon budget needs to be upended with a focus on munitions and sustainment as the first priority.

In retrospect, El-Sayed running his campaign like such an arrogant, shit-talking punk probably didn't help.

It's unacceptable that Mass General Brigham refuses to meet its nurses at the bargaining table to negotiate a fair contract. MGB made $2.4 billion last year and pays its CEO over $8 million/year. MGB must treat nurses and home care workers with the respect they deserve.
