Folks ask us how we harvest our dogs peacefully on their last day. For the larger breeds, it's the same way other family farms harvest cows & pigs. First, we gently fire a metal bolt respectfully into the brain of the dog, causing them to lose consciousness immediately most of the time. After stunning, a slaughterperson shackles the dog by a hind leg & hoists him above the ground. They then kindly ‘stick’ the dog in the neck with a very sharp knife, hopefully severing major blood vessels in what should be rapid enough blood loss & then, god willing, a painless death.
