I'm quite excited about these product updates! The homepage shows top sales in digital art as well as live ones, which you can't find anywhere else, and highlights some great releases. And the collector profile filters, in my biased opinion, is a game-changer. Filtering by artist is simply a new experience for digital art collectors that nobody cracked before. Only possible because of all the data we spent +12mo painstakingly aggregating. Try it for yourself here: raster.art/collector/le-rand…

my view is that in the long run (3+ years) every crypto art related platform that raised vc will be gone, be mindful where you invest your energy

for the most part, to its inhabitants, crypto itself is the city and chains are just skyscrapers/ shopping centres with office space/ units inside of them that projects inhabit. some projects are big enough to be their own buildings. the vast majority of (real) users aren’t chain maximalists. they will go between different areas based on what’s hot and where others are/ where opportunity is, just like in the city analogy. over time certain districts are settling, though it’s more like market sectors - defi is manhattan type thing. things that happen here plug into the rest of the world more and more, just like business deals and finances happening in ny or tech happening in sf affect the world further than their catchment area. we have cultural districts, milady is probably brooklyn, and shitcoining is like going out to into the degenerate bar scene. but in the discussion of sticky network effects, it mostly seems moot and disconnected from what really underpins it. the network effects are mostly on the human layer. in the analogy, buildings and locations and dynamics of a city are part of it, but the way that humans interact with it are the defining story this is the truth though this isn’t a complete truth, and there’s a lot more nuance than can fit in a tweet

so you're telling me buying rivian at $10 is like buying solana at $10, but it's self-driving electric vehicles and eventually robots instead of a fake meme economy

Technology for the artist is just a tool to make art. Technology must remain subservient to an artist’s vision, not the other way round. If an artist becomes too preoccupied with chasing technological innovation they will become less immersed in the concerns of art making. Why is technological innovation for its own sake dangerous for the artist? Because technology so quickly becomes irrelevant and uninteresting. Who cares about technology from the 1980s? Many still care deeply about art made in the 1980s.

The great thing about on-chain digital art? Even if you're not in person at an exhibition, you can experience the original work. This week, Art Basel is launching the first instantiation of Zero 10 in Miami Beach. Some works were minted before public opening 👇
