Squeeee. Got Gemma 4 working on my innate Mars with meshtastic. Can trigger the wave function or status updates with Gemma responses from miles away with no internet. Going to do some cleanup and write up how this worked later.

20x reduction in serious-injury crashes - our latest safety data based on 270M+ rider-only miles across 5 territories. Here’s what that looks like in the real world
270M+ miles. 841 fewer injury-causing crashes.
Our latest safety data shows the Waymo Driver continues to make roads safer for everyone.
Compared to human drivers across 5 territories, it reduced:
📉 Injury crashes by 82%
📉 Serious injury crashes by 95%

The joys of maintaining a 110 year old piano. Should just need a dab of glue to fix A4 at least, then back in business.
Some cool stuff that can happen in the HRI space with this.
introducing Gemini 3.8 Flash TTS and Gemini 3.8 Flash-Lite TTS, our most expressive audio generation models yet
these models enable creators, developers, and enterprises to create richer, more expressive audio experiences
try them via the Gemini API and in AI Studio: aistudio.google.com/generate…
I 100% swear by having an office recliner. I wait for my Antigravity calls in the most comfy cozy way.

World Action Models are becoming more popular in robotics, as they learn to predict the world jointly with learning how to act on it. However, these world predictions are usually purely based on reconstructing color images from video. This is limiting, because color is far from the most important quality for a robot moving around in the world — more important are qualities like 3D geometry and object semantics. In Flex-π, @GeYan_21, @Jesse_Y_Zhang, and team train a 6 billion parameter world action model to do exactly this, predicting 3D pointmaps and DINO features along with color. This results in a policy which is much more demonstration-efficient, generalizes well, and can perform complex long-horizon tasks.

FYI for anyone buying robot parts from China:
Place the order today.
Mid-Autumn Festival starts Friday, then Golden Week shuts things down the first week of October.
Factories & distribution centers typically close which can lead to major shipping delays.
Using the RobStride motors for the LeRobot Humanoid project was pretty rough when trying to fix the runtime or do initial setup since I didn't know anything about them, samples were missing on the manufacturer's GitHub, and the manual left a lot to be desired, so I wrote a quick getting started guide for them on @ThePracticalDev based on what I've learned and worked through.

Going to take a pause on this project as most of my stuff is packed to move and I'm a few weeks out, but Stargate Jaffa helmet is making progress

THE FLY BRAIN ESCAPED THE COMPUTER. I PUT IT INSIDE A PHYSICAL ROBOT.
Scientists released a reconstructed map containing 166,700 neurons from a fruit fly.
I connected it to a Strandbeest.
The panel in the top-right shows the simulated brain running. Its neural activity is translated into motor commands that move the mechanical legs below.
The catch: this is a computational model built from biological wiring. I engineered the interface connecting its outputs to the robot.
First, the fly brain entered DOOM.
Then it played Chrome Dino.
Now it has a physical body.
166,700 neurons.
25 million connections.
One nervous system walking through the real world.
Cleaning the garage for moving in about a month. Found these sweet Sphero celebratory bb8 launch robot brewed beers that tasted like absolutely dog shit when they were fresh.
What I want vibe coding to actually do is help me make a mobile app 3D scanner. The device I used years ago is like $500 now, but I want to print a 'me' bust for free to make more silicon masks without doing a plaster negative.
