Prime Ministers are meant to lead by example, shine like a beacon. This one lies, breaks laws, laughs and gurns as he does so. He shapeshifts and truthtwists, as people die. Does as he pleases, while we do as he demands. And, now, the rot has seeped into others who are better.

Is this really my country?
What have we become when this level of arrant threatening bile & harassment happens at the heart of our democracy? The footage is apparently of BBC Newsnight’s being chased back to police cover by anti-lockdown protesters.

Pender was a visionary & a pioneer of communications infrastructure, understanding its power for international communication and trade! We @ucleeenews @UCLEngineering @ucl have much connection to Pender, not least through the Pender Chair, held by some of our greatest professors!
Our #objectoftheweek is the white marble bust of Sir John Pender sculpted by the English Sculptor Edward Onslow Ford in 1897. The bust is currently on loan to PK Porthcurno from the Denison-Pender family.

A smile we never forget - the wonderful #Irish cameraman Simon Cumbers, gunned down on this day in 2004, on assignment for BBC in #SaudiArabia. Thoughts with his parents Bob and Bronagh, his wife Louise and his many friends in the media and beyond. #CueCumbers
Today we’re remembering Simon Cumbers, the BBC cameraman murdered in 2004 while on assignment in Saudi Arabia. He was the loveliest and most gentle of men, universally liked and admired. He embodied all that’s good in our industry. #cuecumbers

Forget £350 million a week. Here’s Johnson in 2016, promising an extra £600 million pounds a week for British businesses if Brexit happened. I’d hate for anyone to retweet it.

Serious reports that suggest Belarus has forced a plane to land that was en route from Greece to Lithuania carrying a journalist who ran the anti-regime telegram channel Nexta. This is huge.
Very useful breakdown. Would be interesting to know how the major causes (particularly fishing and ‘unknown’) have changed, say decade by decade, over this 50 year period.
