This rule that broadcasters shouldn't cover the election while people are voting on polling day is rubbish, a relic from the dinosaur age of the 1950s. People have been voting by post since Tuesday 11 June, at rate of about 400,000 a day on average. Why no broadcast ban then?

Important PSA: even an expired ID will do!
Patrick Smith@psmith4 Jul 2024
I really hope the big story of today isn't voter ID and massive queues of people who have been turned away. For most people, all they can use is a passport of driving license, or a Voter Authority Certificate. Some will have none of these.

I'm gonna explain to y'all why Britain considers 78°F/25°C hot. I know hot because I grew up in Texas and spent half my life in Las Vegas. So I am absolutely qualified to explain this to the rest of you who laugh at UK "heat waves".

Tell young people - this is what Twitter used to be like. The replies to this are just joyous. Rylan! GB News!
Not sure how it happened but a bus crashed into a building near Tottenham Court Road Station. Police, Fire Brigade and ambulance in attendance.

IT'S HERE: Nimby Watch, my new column for @CapX, in which I celebrate the way our planning system is working to save the country from the blight of affordable housing or decent infrastructure. First up - the story of the Bethnal Green mulberry tree. capx.co/introducing-nimby-wa…

The praise this @EvanHD interview has rightly received is a reminder of how rare such rigour was during the Brexit Referendum, when quite basic things, like what references to "access" to the single market meant, were not interrogated.
Coming up on #BBCPM today at 5 – what is happening with government debt? Join us to find out, after this interview on yesterday’s programme by @EvanHD with the Treasury Chief Secretary Laura Trott ⬇️

This is a wild chart. The number of American newspaper employees is down >50% since I started working in a newsroom, and I'm 32 years old.
Every time a publication folds the public and the employees have some story to tell about its mismanagement, and how if they had just x they would have survived, but the trend is inescapable and they're all doomed.
