today is #nationalblackdogday — a day to bring awareness to ā€œblack dog syndromeā€. black dogs are often overlooked in shelters, wait longer to be adopted, and sadly face a higher risk of euthanasia here’s my sweet Lily, a rescue from the south who found her way into my life 🐾

There’s a new face in the Himalayan Highlands! A female snow leopard cub was born this summer to mother Dariga and father Moutig. The female cub is doing well and has now reached the age she can venture with her mother into the Himalayan Highlands exhibit. (1/6)

Twenty years ago, on this day in 2006, Allen Institute for Brain Science announced the completion of our inaugural project: a web-based, 3D map of gene expression in the mouse brain providing scientists with a level of data previously not available. #openscience

Can dietary interventions change how fast genomes accumulate mutations with age? We studied how caloric restriction (CR)—one of the most robust lifespan-extending interventions—affects somatic mutations across the genome in different tissues and cell types in mice.

The new ACS logo absolutely stinks! How much $$$ from our membership dues went into designing this turd? The A looks like it is from a starfleet uniform! Restore the historic American Chemical Society logo c.org/zhrmv99Y8J via @Change

This is absolutely dumb and ridiculous. The K99/R00 Pathways to Independence award is a major mechanism to retain the very best international trainees in biomedical research in US institutes. As a reviewer of this award I know the awardees are absolute stars in each of their subfields. We are talking about the most creative and most productive people here. Now they are closing the door on these young stars who are already highly sought after by other countries. It's saddening and disappointing to watch the "land of opportunity" getting diminished like this step-by-step.
