Lunch of champions! Salad caprese w/ toasted prosciutto & a glass of gemischter satz from @brookswinery = delicious! Sadly, not too many days left this fall to enjoy such bounty I fear, but we shall see! Weather forecast for next ~10 days suggests no cool down until next weekend.

Long, long day today as my little man had a serious operation. A scary growth near his dog reproductive parts needed removal. Surgery was successful but he is none too pleased with the discomfort and pain. Two bowls of kibble with steak mixed in were an appropriate distraction!

Dear Professor Haley, We are inviting you to review "Extracranial Metastatic & Locally Invasive Meningioma: Clinicopathologic Features in a Nine-Patient Case Series" by XX, which has been submitted to Cancer Reports for consideration. Seriously? I do cancer research? Since when?

One of my favorite fall snacks on the weekend - homegrown jalapeños stuffed with Oregon Dungeness crab and Parmesan cheese! YUMMY!!! #chemistswhocook

Great time in Vienna! Many thanks to Davide Bonifazi for a wein hike this afternoon in the hills surrounding the city. 20000+ steps & I am pooped! Weather was threatening all afternoon but barely a drop fell from the sky. Good thing as the wein hut we stopped at had no umbrellas

Various scenes from Budapest - a surprisingly beautiful (to me at least) city! Soooooo much culture and architecture. While I did not know what to expect, it has far exceeded expectations. Some 16,000 steps and multiple tram/Uber rides today, and I am completely POOPED!!!

Awesome banquet dinner last night to wrap up #ICPOC-27. So much great Bavarian food, wine and beer - I am still full! Honored to have one of Phys Org Chem’s great chemists, Charlie Perrin, join our table.

Great two days here in München so far at #ICPOC27. Enjoying hanging out with this cast of characters — @JudyWuChem, @Aromaticist and @prsgroupjlu. Three of us are done with our talks — now it's time for JIW to tie it up with a bow before tomorrow night's banquet in the Altstadt.

Pictures from my backyard of tonight's near-total lunar eclipse as seen in Eugene, Oregon. Fantastic evening watching the skies and sipping a glass of wine – clear skies and 68 F/20 C @ 2100.

Caprese salad, for breakfast??? Heck yeah! Four different varieties of tomatoes – (clockwise) mortgage lifter, super fantastic, bicolor, and better boy (my favorite). Paired it with crispy prosciutto = YUM! #chemistswhocook

Fresh corn, homegrown onions and potatoes, hot Italian sausage and shrimp = Cajun shrimp boil! You can take the man out of Louisiana where I was born, but you can’t take Louisiana out of the man. Could not find andouille sausage so the hot Italian had to do. #chemistswhocook

This article furthers my dislike of graphene/graphyne research–amorphous, insoluble materials that one cannot characterize properly. Yes, I am a biased organic chemist–show me the NMR spectra! 😉 Chemists may be misassigning defects in carbon materials: chemistryworld.com/news/chem…

The new ACS logo absolutely stinks! How much $$$ from our membership dues went into designing this turd? The A looks like it is from a starfleet uniform! Restore the historic American Chemical Society logo c.org/zhrmv99Y8J via @Change

Tomatopalooza is here – it is not even August and I am swimming in tomatoes! I made gazpacho, pico de gallo, B&T sandwiches, & 3 pounds of sauce, and I barely put a dent in the harvest. Basket is going up to work for my research team to enjoy! #chemistswhocook #chemistswhogarden

Hot science & even hotter temperatures here at the #ISMSC2026 meeting in Bordeaux. There are more people in the 2 remote, air-conditioned classrooms listening to the lectures than in the un-air-conditioned big lecture hall…😬 The organizers & participants are making it work! 👍
