We found that human RAD52 adopts a newly identified open-ring conformation, in addition to the previously known closed-ring, and solved both structures using cryo-electron microscopy (3/8)

Dancing DNA polymerases? The essential steps in DSB repair pathway a-EJ/MMEJ/TMEJ are mediated by alternating engagements of Polymerases theta and delta (yes, Pol delta, the same polymerase that does lagging strand synthesis) – read about it in Nature rdcu.be/drbuG

We show that in breast cancer, and especially triple negative breast cancer, EYA4 is a strong driver of primary tumor growth and metastasis. We are hopeful that in the near future, EYA4 inhibition can impact breast cancer care and decrease fatalities.

EYA4 is the least studied phosphatase of the EYA family. Its role as a tumor suppressor or oncogene was a bit up in the air until now, as it is rarely expressed in differentiated cells (tissue specific and often re-expressed in cancer)

Excited to share this #preprint on @researchsquare accepted today in Molecular Cancer. EYA4 drives breast cancer progression and metastasis through its novel role in replication stress avoidance. researchsquare.com/article/r… Superb group effort w/ @bdelapenavalos @RTropee @DuijfLab
This is an excellent paper by @copenhaverlab on ubiquitin mediated degradation of atDMC1. nature.com/articles/s41467-0…

Very happy to share our recent work on single-molecule imaging of 3418 aa-long protein monster known as the BRCA2 tumour suppressor! Great collection with @LukeGreenhough @BoultonLab @SCWestLab
Our latest📰! Out today in @MolecularCell We used single-molecule imaging to directly observe human BRCA2 tumour suppressor in action! Spearheaded by @BelanOndrej & @LukeGreenhough. A thread. (1/10)

One for the single-molecule and nucleic acids crowd.
Sharing a pre-print of a side project I developed when I was in Steve Kowalczykowski’s lab. We developed a method, using RecA protein, to add site-specific anchors to large DNA molecules - while maintaining their topology.

A caring mentor is SO important, but there are lots of other barriers: immigration/ visas, support for parents including new mothers, affordable housing and much more… Mentors also need to advocate for institutional change to support their trainees.
