A fabulous service by @predsci, thank you!
Some updates on our near-real-time prediction of the #TotalSolarEclipse of April 8, with new data products and data download—and even simulated views from existing coronagraphs in space 😉 Details in the quoted thread and at predsci.com/eclipse2024

For the first time, @predsci are including data from #SolarOrbiter’s Polarimetric and Helioseismic Imager (PHI) instrument. This contributes information on the Sun’s magnetic field from a unique vantage. The result? A better prediction of the eclipse! ☀️

Catch a glimpse of the #solareclipse ☀️🕶️
A team of researchers from @predsci has been using the Expanse #supercomputer at the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) at @UCSanDiego to continuously update simulations of what the #eclipse might look like.

Thanks to @predsci's corona simulation for 8 April, I can show you a visualisation of the approximate visual appearance of totality with four visible planets (west to east: Jupiter, Venus, Saturn & Mars) Mercury at mag 4.4 and 2% will be beyond the reach of the eye. #SolarEclipse

So awesome. The first model simulation of what the solar corona -- the outer layer of the sun's atmosphere -- will look like during the total solar eclipse on April 8 has been released by @predsci.
We give you a first look ⬇️
