This morning, CEHURD proudly joined over 100,000 Ugandans in the Kabaka’s Birthday Run 2025, a powerful show of unity in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
This year’s run is focused on reducing #HIV infections among young women and girls, a cause aligning strongly with CEHURD’s mission of advancing #SRHR & the right to health.
Organized annually by the Kingdom of Buganda in honor of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II’s birthday, the run has, since 2014, supported healthcare initiatives - ranging from fistula surgeries to sickle cell and HIV testing and awareness campaigns.
The Kabaka Birthday Run is not just a race but an opportunity for us to advocate for policies that prioritize access to HIV prevention & care services and awareness creation.

« Les Mutilations Génitales Féminines sont des interventions visant à modifier ou à endommager les parties génitales d’une femme ou d’une fille, sans raison médicale. Il s’agit le plus souvent d’une ablation totale ou partielle des organes génitaux externes.
Les Mutilations Génitales Féminines constituent une violation des droits fondamentaux des filles et des femmes. » (UNICEF)
🆘 Le rapport UNICEF 2022 sur mutilations génitales féminines est accablant :
📌 1 victime sur 4 a été mutilée par un.e professionnel.le de santé. Cette proportion est 2x plus élevée chez les adolescentes : il y a donc une médicalisation croissante de la pratique.
📌 En Guinée, au Mali et en Somalie, 90% des filles et des femmes sont concernées. L’excision est une pratique systématique dans certains pays.
📌 Au Kenya, l’âge moyen des victimes est passé de 12 à 9 ans en l’espace de 30 ans.
📌 Le nombre de femmes et filles s’opposant à la pratique s’est multiplié par deux en 20 ans.
📌Au Bénin, la prévalence de l'excision chez les femmes de 15 à 49 ans est de 9,2 %
