🚨1/ This New York Times piece is wild. Let's go through it.
Firstly, the lede is an emphasis that attacks in Amsterdam were based on antisemitism, yet it cites no evidence of this, but DOES cite evidence of anti-Arab chants.

Can anybody conflirm whether Joseph Stalin's agenda for liquidating the Kulaks did include provision to pass on about £2 million tax-free (£1 million each for property/farm) before seeking a contribution to public finances if more than that was being passed across generations?

Really is incredible to think that the Tories announced compensation for victims of two scandals, then did nothing to arrange the money. Labour has had to put aside a massive chunk of the money they secured yesterday to fulfil a promise the previous government made.

There has recently been a flood of misinformation from people professing to care about criminal justice.
Well today there’s an issue that really matters.
The system as a whole is on its knees. Record backlogs, years of delays, chronic shortages.

There is no point in talk of investing in police investigations, in the protection of women and girls, in “swift justice” and building new prisons if the essential part of the justice system, the trial process is so underfunded that by the time a trial can take place, the witnesses have walked away. If six years or so are allowed to pass before a matter comes to trial, even more will do so.

And thanks to @maxwell_marlow who collated the correct spending figures here:
Voters do not know / significantly misperceive state spending. This should worry every policy maker.
Some quick excel work I’ve done pulling data from @TheIFS and other sources for 2023.
