I had read that self-grading showed these patterns, but I never imagined it would be so stark. My heart is breaking a bit. How can women fix the inner voices in their heads telling them they are not good enough? (3/3)
POCSquared retweeted
The women graded themselves too harshly and listed all the things they could have done better, while the men gave themselves higher grades (often higher than I thought they deserved) and spent more time talking about what they did right. (2/n)

I had my students grade their own final projects and reading their evaluations is honestly a heartwrenching window into internalized gender norms (1/n)

this is not aimed at anyone but real talk: so many senior women in science are just straight up not good allies. just because things are not as bad as they were in your day does not mean my generation’s problems are not real.

The neutrino detectors are placed underground to filter out unwanted cosmic muons, which act as noise/background to the detector. The rarely interacting neutrinos can pass through the mountain and are able to reach the detector. #neutrino #neutrinoproject #atmosphericneutrinos

the idea that testosterone is an evil chemical that will make you into the hulk is both a key terf talking point and a pseudoscientific excuse for cis men to be violent. it's also nonsense

Yep it's one of the main reasons I wouldn't ever choose the postdoc life. Especially as someone who's doing my PhD relatively late - the postdoc route is not really accessible for older students with a settled home. – at Yorkshire and The Humber, England

I wanna cry everytime a student tell me that they don't want to work in academia because they don't want to go through what I had to go through (relocating continuously without any certainty of getting a permanent job)... And they are right, that's the problem... ☹️ – at Milan, Lombardy
