If you care about security, you really should avoid dealing with 10Web, as they handle security terribly. As an example of that, take this apparent zero-day in of their plugins that was exploited last year. That could have easily been avoided. pluginvulnerabilities.com/20…

.@photomatt This is how #WordPress treats people who've helped the community for a decade - shaming them rather than seeking solutions? I've 3x now offered to edit/delete whatever triggered the flag, and #WP support has instead opted to rub my nose in the carpet.

The leadership of WordPress is making it really difficult for me to love my job. Perhaps this is why I'm so outspoken. Things must change.

A while ago I mentioned about #WordPress plugins that need to be deleted if no one has updated them for a couple of years etc. Anyhoo, I've discovered this, how cool is that? Like proper awesome. Sorry if this has been a thing for a long time, first time I've seen it (I'm sad lol). This is such a cool touch by .org. *yes I know the plugin has been updated and such, just thought this was a good move. Apologies if this existed already, just thought it worth a mention.

We have updated our Plugin Security Checker to flag code similar to the insecure code that led to this authenticated option update vulnerability in the WordPress plugin Woostify Sites Library. wpscan.com/vulnerability/626…

You should join us on the @WPAccessibility team or by being a vocal #a11y advocate on another team Every moment I put into reporting accessibility bugs or educating others feels like making a difference - regardless of what's happening in the community. Code fixes help even more

Yep. As a self-funded contributor in an environment that feels like pushing up a rock up a hill, I’m just losing interest. I want to contribute time/energy/money where I can make a difference and WP doesn’t feel like that place to me anymore.

Watch out for folks pretending to be from the .org marketing team. @photomatt is an abusive egotistical, tyrant dictator and Automattic is explicitly designed to be exploitative in nature in the way it directly controls the WordPress product and community while using that control to fuel its own profits and Matt’s bank account first and everything else second. It does this so brilliantly under the purposefully confusing .com/.org where Matt gets to immediately pull off the lower 10% of the market for himself and the top 10% for himself through VIP. Back when Matt took the VC money he changed, the old Matt is dead and we must move on from him. The good news is AI will soon enough make everything he’s ever done obsolete. WordPress needs proper governance, needs to demand the assets of which are clearly its handed over to it and Automattic needs to be separated as the end all be all authority. Sadly none of this will happen as Matt explicitly sold his control over WordPress and it’s community to his VC investors. If I recall it’s explicitly mentioned in the pitch deck. The community needs to just stop putting this man on a pedestal, he forked some code and put a new name on it. He’s the creator of nothing.

Show me one WPBeginner article, about any topic, that doesn't at some point suggest to the reader they buy AM products. Even if the products are massively unrelated, there is ALWAYS a sales pitch throughout every article. This is not the way.

They aren't giving readers the best advice. They are giving readers advice based on how much money they can make (owned products, partnerships, affiliates). They quite literally sell the idea that the only way to have a successful WP site is to buy everything AM sells.

If the attacker already has to be an Administrator to exploit a "vulnerability", that isn't a vulnerability.

But @23andme is right, it's the customer's fault that they got hacked. It's something the customer did, not something @23andme did. If you deliberately drive into a tree with your Toyota, it's not Toyota's fault you crashed your car.
