The Clippers waiving Cam Christie leaves Charlotte, Milwaukee, Memphis and the Lakers as the most pertinent back-of-roster situations NBA personnel are monitoring before Oct. 19. Have heard the Bucks, Lakers and Grizzlies all exploring trades. Hornets have to weigh the locker room value of retaining Pat Connaughton.

Luka, Reaves, Kessler, Mamu offensive core is absolutely nuclear... Mamu can shoot, dish the rock, put the ball on the floor and run the break, finish in traffic. Going to be a special offensive squad in LA.

To put a bow on this, for now, Karl-Anthony Towns' public response to the Knicks' public statement regarding the front office tabling extension talks until later in the season: "It was news to me. Very disappointed to say the least. Let's state the obvious. It's business, but there is business on the court for us to handle."

Knicks statement on contract extensions: "As an organization, our entire focus is on preparing for the upcoming season and delivering another year for our fans to be proud of. As a result, we will not be negotiating contract extensions until later in the season and will remain solely focused on preparing for the start of the season."

The Dream hold on to beat the Liberty, 101-98, in OT behind six players in double figures and huge nights from Jordin Canada and Angel Reese. The Dream are one win away from making the Finals. Teams with a 2-0 lead in a best-of-five series have a series record of 19-0 in WNBA playoff history.

Without an agreement today, the $9.6M QO will expire at 11:59PM ET. The QO can be extended but that is more unlikely.

Here is the difference of Jalen Duren signing with Detroit for 5/200M compared to the Qualifying Offer and max salary in 2027. There is certainly a significant risk and Duren needs to know $189M is waiting for him, but there is not much difference in the $$.
