"A debate beyond ideology", you say? Please accept this communication - made in good faith - as an open offer to debate the rigour and substance of your @ICPConnect article with me in any forum, Matt. ASEPA Conference 2026??? 😉
Inclusion ≠ placement.
Matt Johnson calls out the inclusion illusion: closing schools doesn’t create equity. Real inclusion invests in teachers, safe settings & parental choice. Read more in ICP Magazine (Sept 2025): icponline.org/icp-magazine-s…

Thankful to be asked to join a panel discussion on inclusive education at last Friday's "From Reform to Reality" Symposium. It's inspiring to listen to so many people, from across different disciplines, committed to inclusion as a human right.

Thanks to the @acelaustralia SA branch for their leadership forum last night. I'm not sure what I expected, but I left feeling our systems were operating with synergy and shared intent. (And, yes, AI-impact got a good airing also!) @LucyHood

A National Roadmap for Inclusive Education, as recommended by the DRC, could easily mandate that system + school use of "inclusive education" terminology is aligned with the human rights definition (not used in a bad faith way to hide segregation). It's not that hard, folks.

“The language of inclusion is often deployed to shield the practice of exclusion”. A great reminder as I scroll through Twitter. If your "bespoke"😂definition/framing is actually white-anting human rights, then it's not "inclusion".

It was lovely to be at the Educators SA final event of the year yesterday. What a year it's been. Great support for education associations across the state!

Happy International Day of People with Disability! Any great recommendations for books or other materials from lived voices? As a movie lover, I'm really looking forward to this in 2026: bloomsbury.com/us/popcorn-di… #IDPD2025

Awful and dehumanising. This practice is referred to as "dark patterns" on the Internet. Direct people onto a website and guide them towards certain selections/decisions - often harmful ones. How 'choice architects' shaped robodebt letters indaily.co/433640 via @indaily

This article articulates the cost to support 19,000 South Australians and their families, but it doesn't consider the cost of NOT supporting them - a cost we're likely paying now. The framing of the NDIS as funding hoarders is also yuck. indaily.co/433432 via @indaily

Our @Elgar Research Handbook on Disability Policy is out in the world! Two years of hard work by 70 authors. The book interweaves personal narratives from disabled people with academic chapters which provide important insights into how policy affects human rights. @KarenRFisher

Thanks to Educators SA for a lovely ceremony during Volunteers' Week. It was a treat seeing past AASE SA Secretary + National Councillor, Ruth Evans, acknowledged for her incredible history of volunteerism.
