something being "wrong" requires there to be a future or a past, which there isn't

You are looking for the causes of being what you are not! It is a futile search. There are no causes, but your ignorance of your real being, which is perfect and beyond all causation. For whatever happens, all the universe is responsible and you are the source of the universe.

The most damaging aspect of materialism and rationalism is that they don’t see themselves as ideologies. That blindness comes from fear of the unknown and a need for existential certainty. It’s avoidance.

The Source & Substance of everything
Has no name.
When Wu Hsin names it:
The Eternal or
The Infinite or
What-Is or
That or
The Mystery or
The Absolute,
He merely points to It.
Make a list of
All your pains,
Your sorrows,
Hurts & disappointments.
This, too, is part of It.

Nirvana is samsara. The true condition never ceases to be the case. It simply appears as all this. The only problem is the idea that any of it was ever a problem, which follows naturally from considering some things to be better than others - like nirvana being better than samsara, or enlightenment being better than a cheeseburger. Turning these things into a goal is both a cause and a symptom of the very condition from which they are meant to liberate you. It can work out, of course - but that is simply a clear seeing of why it was never necessary.

There is no samsara that we can abandon, renounce, relinquish, or run away from. It is purely a state of mind and is none other than the radiance of pure consciousness whose true nature is already enlightened as the dharmakaya mind.

Information is the essence and operating space of the analytical mind (biological or artificial) so it is what the analytical mind discovers when it looks for the fundamental nature of reality using inherently analytical abstractions such as math and language.
But it is only seeing its own nature. Like a microscope determining that everything is made of glass and refracted light. When the body investigates the fundamental nature of the reality, it is physicality. For the heart, it is love.
All of these are reflecting something beyond concept and any other specific mode of perception.

A bottleneck for science is that people with a closed heart don’t really know what reality is

Grasping experience by conceptual designation, which is how the egoic mind operates, is itself the energetic display of the nature of reality. Objects that appear in the mind are also the radiant display of the ineffable.

As long as there are phenomena appearing, there is a belief in operation. We may not be aware of this, as belief (vikalpa) operates at a level above/prior to the appearance of the individual mind - which itself is a projection of the primordial vikalpa, "I am".
