My agent recently assembled a video out of screenshots because screen recording was broken… LLMs WILL get the task done
Just published pg-pool-adapter, a small utility that allows you to use a knex Postgres connection pool like a pg.Pool instance. github.com/patrick-petrovic/…
Really cool how @briancarlson's node-postgres aka pg became the the facto client for Postgres. Was surprised to learn that knex wasn't using it (but makes sense since it supports various databases). Other libraries rely on a pg.Pool interface, for example LangChain.

Feels wrong that a Helm chart can break because of a template creating an invalid Kubernetes manifest.
To draw an analogy to general purpose languages: It’s as if calling a function with a wrong value would lead to a syntax error
“Helm templates are based on the Go template language which is very flexible and powerful but doesn't really know anything about YAML or Kubernetes” - glasskube.eu/en/r/knowledge/…

Knowing whether a thing "actually ever happens" at a specific scale is not always easy.
When I used CREATE INDEX CONCURRENTLY on an insert-only Postgres table with ~100M rows, it failed and created an invalid index. Surprising even though I knew this could happen in theory.
A mild cold during the holidays... Time to finally write a blog post about PostgreSQL! patrick.engineering/posts/po…
Just finished Postgres 14 internals by @PostgresPro... what a journey! So motivating to see how theoretical concepts (MVCC, various indexing structures, joins...) are implemented in a real-life system. This kind of content is what I would've wished for back in university🫠
It’s weird that I talk to ChatGPT in English for any software engineering-related question. Unlike Google and StackOverflow it would probably work well in German, too?
Just published pg-bounceguard 🙌 an npm module that allows you to find queries that are incompatible with PgBouncer’s transaction pooling.

This Christmas period, setting up CI/CD for a side project:
* Docker build and push to ECR in GitHub Actions
* Generate a TLS cert using Terraform and upload to S3
* Configure complete Elastic Beanstalk single-instance deployment, also using Terraform
So nice to see it work!
