EXCLUSIVE🚨: The Premier League is set to introduce a rule stopping fans from distracting penalty takers. This comes after a record number of missed penalties this season.
The darts style rule will see fans who whistle or distract the taker be removed from the stadium and the penalty retaken.
The rule will come into play in early 2027.

It has become fashionable to write articles about how people living in social housing don't deserve it.
This one is particularly misinformed.
Here's why... 🧵

THIS IS A FAKE ACCOUNT.
“Philip Swallow” is a fictional academic in David Lodge’s Changing Places comic novel about academia.
The profile picture is David Lodge.
So this is a fake ‘academic’ spewing bile about a dead man. Despicable.

I know you inherited your place in life Dom but for many of us, working hard and going to university is our only chance at making our lives better. Alas not everyone has the luxury of having privilege repeatedly mistaken for genius.

Cofnas was removed because he was bad for business. Arday was hired because he was good for business. Arday resigned because he was likely to be removed -- because he is now bad for business. If Cofnas (or the like) became good for business, he'd be hired again.

Not quite the whole story. There was an Area Review, led by the Tories, and this made no recommendation for this type of provision - in fact, it recommeded the exact opposite.
“The single decision Bridget Philipson made that has been most revealing.
“Eton and Star Academies wanted to open a great new free school in Middlesbrough to help more talented young people access the best universities - backed by funding from Eton.”
“When Bridget became Education Secretary she killed the project.”
Prejudice trumped social mobility.

I admit, back in 2016 I didn't spot that 'pretending to care about the working class' would become the defining political phenomenon of the era.

In July, year-on-year food inflation in the OECD remained broadly stable at 4.5% compared with 4.6% in June.
Food inflation rose in most OECD countries (21), while only 12 experienced a decline and 5 showed little change.

Why the West Cumbria Coal Mine Wouldn’t Have Saved British Steel.
As Parliament is recalled to legislate for the future of British Steel, some are once again pointing to the proposed West Cumbria coal mine as a missed opportunity.

Said it before and I'll say it again, the nation's "skills problems" are largely not to do with supply. Policymakers' efforts need to focus on increasing the demand for, utilisation of and investment in skills.
